Not the best way to start the holiday, huh? But we appreciate all the hard work and hope the rest of the holiday weekend goes well for you.

Hi Bird and others,

I also am getting the SQL errors on CBN. Ibrahim will look into it in a few hours. There will be various bugs to iron out over today and tomorrow, since in actuality this is a total restart of TBN and CBN, which share the same server.

A bit of perspective. The number of visitors has climbed to an average of more than 125 most all times of the day. And posts are well over 500 a day.

But the REAL issue has become the number of page views, which are almost 4 MILLION a month. That puts TBN among the top 1,500 web sites (out of around 40 million) in terms of activity on a web site.

It is easy to comprehend that EBay or ESPN have millions of page views every day. But after the top 500 or so sites, there really aren’t that many as active as TBN.

Moreover, TBN keeps growing, which is good of course. But it also means we have to keep adding bandwidth, server space and RAM memory. Each time we upgrade, we congratulate ourselves and say, "There, that should hold TBN for the next 12 months." But it never seems to. A few months later, we are scrambling again – like now. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Another problem is the cost of maintaining all of this as essentially a volunteer site. It is starting to require quite significant financial monthly expenditures for server space and a lot of time for upkeep and management of the site.

Thank goodness we have such a helpful and cooperative group of people who make up TBN.

And especially our crew of moderators who are superb in their support of the TBN staff and all of our family of users.

Good morning, Hakim. After all the work yesterday and last night, I expected your whole crew to be sleeping late this morning; they deserve a little extra sleep. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi Bird,

Thanks for the greeting, Bird. Don't you know by now, we never sleep! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Actually I am up to keep an eye on the so-called "Aspen Fire" -- this nation's worst forest fire this season -- which has consumed almost all of Mt. Lemmon, a popular and scenic area bordeing Tucson in the Catalina mountains. We are about two miles from the base of the mountain. Winds have caused the fire to regain force, and it's moving at 25-30 MPH. Geez. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

While a definite "problem" over the past couple of weeks, the fire was never presented as a direct threat to homes located in the foothills, which lie at the base of the mountain on the desert floor. (That's us!!!). /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Muhammad took some photos from our back yard the past few nights, showing the very eerie view of the whole side of the mountain in flames.

We are now advised that continuing high winds are giving added force to the fire, and moving it down the mountain directly into the foothills. While we are not afffected, yet, evacuation instructions have begun for homes located closer to the base of the mountain. My sister and brother both have homes in that area, unfortunately.

Authorities are saying that because of the thinned vegetation in our residential area, that fire trucks will be able to "easily" contain any fires in residential areas. Right. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

So, we are watching this develop with some concern. This is a fire that can't be put out with a harddrive switch. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'll ask Muhammad if he can post the photos of the buring mountain. Photos never show the panorama of a visual vista, but this is pretty spectacular to be viewing out on the patio, I can tell you.

Relax TBN'ers. The servers are located in TEXAS, so are in no danger at all. Besides, we've got Bird standing by over there, just in case... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I hadn't heard anything about that fire in the last week or so, but I just looked at this picture in your local paper. That's terrible; sure hope all your family and their homes will be OK.

Odd coincidence. After I just said I hadn't heard anything about that fire in a week or so, I turned on the TV to our local NBC channel and they were talking about that fire.

Unaware at the time that the hard drive was failing, we did an initial fix on Tuesday night, but errors and other problems persisted on Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

The initial database fix caused your userid to be lost the first time. The hard drive replacement caused it to be lost the second time.
