Hakim,

Thanks for the insight on TBN and what or should I say who is behind this great website.

Just let us know if you ever need some help.

It's pretty cheap and well worth it. I run RAID 5 on my workstation now and have run non-stop through 4 drive failures in 3 years. Each time I removed the drive, sent it back to the manufacturer for repair, and reinstalled the new drive when it was mailed back to me. Computer never stopped the whole time.

What are you running and I can suggest some options.

TBN and CBN are hosted at rackspace.com. rackspace.com has plenty of alternatives. All you need is money. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As Mike mentioned, we use RackSpace, and RAID configuration with them isn't cheap. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

YIKES! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif That's a lot o' failures!

Harsh environment? Super heavy usage? Lemon drives?

Just curious. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I think lemon drives, but bottom line is that drive WILL fail - it's just a matter of time. When they go, you WILL lose data unles it's RAID protected. How much data gets lost depends onbackup frequency, etc. This TBN event is a good example of the price you pay. $500 to $1000 is cheap when you are reconstructing a system that failed.

What's Rackspace? A service provider?

Yes. For more information, click on the link in my previous message.

I see. Looks like their RAID protected storage is EMC - way expensive. Maybe I can convince them to offer a better alternative in PeerStorage

Yes, I just saw it, thanks.
