What's all this about tying things down
I see this quite a bit on the rural roads around here. Not a dog standing on the atv, but farmers with flat bed trucks and a dog or two riding on the deck. A farmer in front of me had his dog almost slide off the deck of his truck when going around a corner. Deck was metal and slick from a rain shower.

Mine ride in the back seat of my truck if I'm taking them somewhere.

Probably more like 22-24k but the trailer is still obviously well over loaded. (Drove a 4 axle dump truck that was longer and it weighed 26400 full of fuel.)

Here’s a picture of the tag of a tandem truck with a drop axel that I saw. IMG_7037.JPG

Mine generally rides in the back seat also, unless we're coming back from the lake. He also likes to ride in back when going up and down from the house to the garden, but I'm only travelling about 10-15 mph and the normal traffic count for my road is about 10 for the day. I don't even close the tailgate and he's not inclined to jump out.
He also rides on the back of the ATV, and in front of me on the snowsled.

I tried a harness with my last dog. The problem was that they are designed for animals to sit up just as we do; whereas she and my current dog get in, turn around a few times then go to sleep. The safest way really is to have them in a crate when travelling, but that isn't very practical.

Mine does the same thing. She lays down behind the passenger seat.

Wow, I’ve never seen a tandem with one pusher that high. That’s quad and quint territory. For reference, this truck weighs just over 22K, when the bed is empty. Tagged for 55K, but it can’t bridge it. Usually between 53-54K.

I saw these guys at Lowe’s loading flooring. They had a half ton Silverado and a 7000 pound car hauler trailer. They had one pallet sitting on the front and the truck suspension was bottomed out. They were trying to get a second pallet on the back which they had managed by the time I left. Sorry I only managed to get one crappy picture without making it obvious. IMG_7041.JPG

strange, so does the atv.
it's almost like the camera focus was there with panning during the exposure...

I would say the picture was taken from a car in another lane, so the camera was travelling at approx. the same speed as the truck/atv/dog. That accounts for what appears to the camera, to be a stationary truck/atv/dog and a moving background.
