The only time that I've walked into a hitch was on my own truck. Up here if you leave it in for a couple of years you won't need to worry about it coming out. I've hooked the hitch of a 4 YO pickup to a tree and still not been able to remove it. OTOH I have 2 which I've picked up out of the road over the last few years. Both the same drop though, I wish that people would be more considerate when they lose things and realize sometimes I could use a longer drop.

What's next, you going to start insisting that I fold my tow mirrors in too? Just in case you're walking too close down the side of my truck and run into one of those?.

Well - maybe.

I had some fool park a $70,000 oversized fancy 4 door leather interior truck with tow mirrors right next to my poor old F150 2 door cloth seat work truck.

I couldn’t get the door opened.

So - I had to do what you have to do to open the door when in that situation.

Ha! I had a hitch stuck like that before.
Tried like the devil to get it out. Couldn’t.

Then, while trailering logs on my property toward the log pile, the hitch just let go and fell off.

On one hand I was happy it was free. On the other hand I had to remove the logs, hook the hitch back (after filing off all the rust) and reload the trailer.

Just weird how hitches come off when you don’t want but won’t come off when you want.

These? I have lost these in tall grass, thats why I started using linch pins. I am about ready to start using cotter keys. I remove it after every tow, and with 5 tow vehicles, . . I don't really want 5 more locks and keys around either.

Weighsafe sells locks keyed alike.
