Thanks RickB! I'm going to check the plug out tonight, and add pictures of the valve itself.

wfd2,

You say you are running the return from the Gresen valve to the sump. How does the fluid get to the sump? Through the remote valve, or directly from the Gresen valve to the sump.

Do you have the hyd supply and return line plugged into the remote?

Remote Valve (on back of tractor) through 3/4" hyd hose -> Gresen valve on pounder then return line on Gresen valve goes back to sump on tractor, using hyd oil from tractor sump.

The hyd supply line is plugged into one of the tested hyd remotes. The return line off the Gresen valve is 1 1/4" and runs straight through back to the sump (where the dipstick goes into the top of the sump on the tractor operator platform).

thanks!

If that valve you have now, is configured for closed center, and you are using it on an open center hyd system, the reliefs on the remote valve should be going off and relieving the fluid to tank.

Have you plugged in a hyd gage to the remote or tee it in at the remote to observe the pressure.

Things just are not making sense.

FWIW, Some of the Shaver valves ARE NOT convertible from open center to closed center or vice versa. Ken Sweet

Could be right, but on page 50, Plug G-14 is an open center plug, and this is where you would convert to closed center, or PB maybe. They also mention closed center.

If this valve is the last valve in the system, you could get away with using only the OUT port to route the expended fluid/hyd flow, but if this valve is in the flow path, it should have PB with an open center tractor. He says he is using fluid from a remote for the supply, and feeding the OUT port to the sump.

Don't introduce the concept of power beyond into this discussion. It does not apply to a Shaver HD-10 valve and you will only further cloud the issue at hand.

On page 50, this is a picture of a DIFFERENT valve than I have. There are no ports on the left side of the valve, as shown on page 50 in the manual. As you can see in my pictures, the left side is completely flat. Because it's a different valve, it is also plumbed differently. Question is, on my valve, where would the open center / closed center plug be? Any ideas?

V-20 valve.

I believe it is the same valve, or very similar, but the end plates are different. The IN and OUt ports are on the top.. They are also using a single action cyl, as one of the work ports is plugged.

G19 is the out port in the Shaver picture, but your OUT port is above to the left.

G-16 is the cyl port.

G-21 is the IN port

G-14 is the open center plug kit.

You might consider changing out those pipe fittings.

Are there any numbers on the valve starting with 20?

Can you raise the pounder.

Will the pounder come down when you activate the valve?

Will the pounder stop anywhere in the fall?

Have you checked the pressure at the input to the pounder valve?

Do you have detent in your remote valve?

Have you checked the relief pressure for the pounder?
