You do not necessarily need power beyond sleeve in this port of the driver valve to have both driver and 3 pt function. With the flat open center plug installed flow from the tractor valve "A" port (when lever in detent) will go through the driver valve and directly back to tank either through the open center circuit when not driving a post or the driver piston return circuit when pounding. To regain 3 pt function, put tractor valve back to neutral. When the tractor valve is in detent it sending oil directly to tank, by-passing the 3 pt down stream from the tractor valve.

Option 2 - have 3 pt function while tractor valve is in detent: Install the power beyond in this plug and run another hose back to "B" port of tractor valve. Typically valve work ports are marked A & B to one valve spool, C & D for the next spool, E & F for the third, etc. This will allow 3 pt function unless you are driving a post at the time. The driver needs that large direct to tank return to dump the oil out of the driver cylinder fast without restriction to obtain speed and force.

SSdoxie, You said,

When the remote valve is in detent, the flow is going to the pounder, and in wfd2's pounder, the return should go to tank.

Don't know how sparkslinger is feeding his pounder.

That was based on picture he posted yesterday. It shows taking oil from what he called A port, but when he tried running the extra hose back ran to "C" while the hose he has marked "B" looks like the other work por tfor that valve spool.

I was thinking there was an o-ring or back up seal on the bottom of the plug, look inside and see if it is still in the hole. You don't want it floating around in the hyd circuit. Item 1 and 3 on page 3-5

I agree with Rick, just cut it off and smooth out.

There is another o-ring in the valve I will remove when I get the open center kit. I ended up ordering it online and I will keep the closed center plug in case I mount it on a different tractor. It should be here soon. When it arrives, I will install it and report back. I'm hopeful that will be the end of my problems and the pounder will work.

I don't believe I would drill and cut through the CC plug, it would have to be large enough to carry all the pump flow. Just wait on the PB sleeve.

Just another note of interest. Once you install the PB adapter, should you want to go back to CC, just plug the PB adapter. It then becomes a CC circuit.

Detent? Just when I thought I was starting to understand power beyond, open center and closed center, I have to learn something new all together. Are you sure this isn't a test or something? Someone please enlighten me. I may have to go back to drilling holes and mixing soup again. I'M probably really going to be sorry I made this post, but hey, gotta learn some way.

Wfd2, My local hydro shop isn't having any luck finding me a PB sleeve. Is one perhaps included in your open center kit? Hopefully I will figure out what JJ & SSdoxie are trying to help me understand and I won't need it. HINT HINT

Thanks for every ones help and sorry for kinda hi jacking your thread wfd2

Just cut off the CC plug and re-use as open center plug, and run your return hose to tank.

If you need 3pt, you could put a simple valve in the circuit and switch when you want either.

Are you serious about knowing about detent. In case you are, detent is a position on a valve spool used to hold the spring loaded spool in a locked position until extra force is necessary to move the spool. Your loader probably has a detent in float. Some valves have a 3 position detent. Otherwise you don't have to hold the lever.

Yes JJ I am quite serious and thank you for the info. I will give that a shot today and see. If this works Im going to feel really stupid, I never even thought about trying in float position.

Explain what what you are doing with float, as there is no pressure in float, and float is usually on the FEL valve.

What is your fluid path from pump to tank if you don't mind?

I usually don't do anything with float except clear snow. I thought when you said "your loader probably has a detent in float" you meant my three point might work with my current configuration if I put my FEL in float. I'm not sure what my fluid path is. There is a pressure line from the pump going to the front hydro block and there are seven other lines attached to that block as well, so I have no idea what the path is from there. This is all very confusing to me........I'm going to take a nap.
