Shed Roof Pitch??

The roof is 2/12 pitch the shingles are rated for that with the underpayment with a 12" overlap. I went with more than 12" of overlap and I'm going to reduce the single exposure from 5.5" to 4" per the advice of local roofers.

With these per cautions and considering that the other roof was 1.5/12 pitch with the same type shingles I think it will be fine.

for composite shingles on a low pitch roof I go with a self adhesive ice and water shield product as the underlayment.........more expensive but light years ahead of the protection provided by standard roofing tar paper......reducing shingle exposure is a good idea........I don't know how close to the coast you are but check with the local code official for high wind nailing patterns.........Jack

Depends on the roof material. 1/4"/ft is for "flat" roofs, 3" is the min for shingles, but 4" is better. Metal with the seams sealed can get down to 2". I've had shallow pitch shingle roofs leak because the water flows across the shingles and gets under the tabs. A steeper pitch will keep the water flowing lengthwise so it can't get under the shingles.
