I am putting in a steel building in SoCal, I could get away with very little pitch but I chose an 8/12 to keep in line with the house and with a look similar to a New England Lobsta Shack.
Cool. Pictures?

What is the least amount of pitch (inches of drop per foot) that is acceptable?
I live in South Carolina, so snow/ice loading is not much of an issue.
Is 1.5" per foot ok?
Match the roof pitch of the other buildings on the property so that all the buildings share a unified theme.
1.5 " will work just fine in your area if shingled use low slope shingles if metal use ww2 ( double ribbed).
That is guaranteed! Unhappy building inspectors make life hard and expen$ive! When I had the porch built the inspector said 3/12 unless I went with a metal roof that seals on the connection between the pieces. Do you have an inspector to deal with, if you do you might as well make him happy because if he is not happy you won't be.
