Shell Rotella Synthetics Rebate

I noticed this sale a few weeks ago, but didn't notice the part about two rebates per customer. What I'm not sure of, is do they mean you could buy two 5gal buckets and get a total of $50 back, or you only get two rebates for one gallon each?

The rebate offer is on the one gallon jugs. To get a five gallon pail of T-6 you will probably have to visit a Shell Oil Jobber in your area. I have never seen five gallon pails of T-6 offered at auto supply houses or Walmarts.

I purchased 4 one gallon containers. All four containers were on the same sales receipt. I filed the rebate offer on line and received one check for $5.00 if that helps in the decision making process.

5 gallon pail of Shell Rotella® T6 Full Synthetic motor oil

I believe you could have gotten at least a $10 rebate; however, it could be that one of the gallons would have had to be on a different receipt.

Just an FYI for the guys inquiring about using this oil in gas engines. I own a 1999 blazer 4.3l w/ 190,000 miles. I am very particular w/ brand & frequency of oil changes. I have always used name brand synthetic or synthetic blend w/ lucas additive. Based on the price I decided to try T6. This is the the first oil I have used that actually increased my oil pressure.
Long term is still unknown.

I would worry a little about this. We're talking about 15W-40 diesel oil in a gasoline engine here, right? I would worry about the oil being too heavy for the small clearances in a modern gas engine. The higher oil pressure might be a direct indication that you are not forcing an adequate oil flow through the bearings. I've seen some concern about the very light oils (5W-20 or 0W20) now being used but I think the engines are specifically designed for those lubricants and I would not want to deviate from the manufacturers recommendation.

I have read reviews and chemical make up of the Lucas snakeoil treatment which is what it is. There are no additives in it and only a little bit of thicker oil base. Save your money and forget the Lucas BS, just put the T6 in an forget it till about 10K miles or one year which ever comes first. Synthetic will give better fuel economy than dino oil also.
