SHIFT LOCK FOR BX24

When operating the hydraulic lift on my BX24, I sometimes grab the shifter (low speed to high speed) instead of the correct knob. Has anyone made some kind of lock to insure that it won't shift while under load by mistake?

After you get a little more practice you will find you don't need one. I was thinking the same thing when I bought my BX24 but don't find a need anymore. You'll find that you'll start putting your hand directly on the lift arm lever without even thinking of it.

I agree . I almost never shifted the high/low N gear thinking it was the Hydralic 3 pt / mower lift. However when i first started out with hte new BX24, at first i did what you were saying but noticed a resistance since the BX doesnt like to shift on the fly so i would stop immedaitely. at the top of my head if you are worried about it and want to kinda lock it, why not take a scrap piece of plywood say about 2"by3" and tack it to a scrap 2X4 say about 3 long. Then just slide the plywood between the open slot and the 2X4 will stop lever from moving and the plywood would hold it there with gravity. I suppose i could put hobble something together quickly and post a pic if you want.

I hope this picture comes through. It is made from 3/16 by 1/2 an 1/4 round steel. It works great.

I have been thinking of making the 3pt. lift lever a little longer. Extending it out and angeling it back a little. Something like this would help to.

Here is my shiftlock installed. It works in either high or low range

I've attached some photos of a lever stop I made for my BX2200 5 years ago. I don't know if your lever arrangement on a BX24 is the same on the BX 2200. My right side levers are the 3 pt. hitch, the 4wd, & the two speed HST (L-N-H) range lever.
I knocked my range lever into neutral while plowing snow. It took me a few feet of rolling to understand what was happening, but I did hit the brake, stopping before I rolled over the driveway edge.

It is just two pieces of plywood, screwed together to form a "T". You size it to fit your range lever slot.
This only will work for a two range HST (L-N-H). It just drops into the lever slot, you pull it out to change the lever position, then drop it back in. Cheap & simple safety piece of mind.
