Attached are pictures of my latest improvements to my shop: Time to share?
I built a saw stand for my dry saw that has a length stop and stock support built onto it. It has a frame that holds the saw and pivots for angle cuts but locks back in square for stop use. It works better than first hoped.
Second, I repurposed a short pipe rack that allows me to have this stock in front of my cut stations for easy and safe access but I put it on casters for ease of moving for loading. Fits in front of the saws but does not interfere with the work stations.
Just getting started and already feels like I am addicted:)

Looks like a very useful chop saw set up but what's the trailer gismo in photo 4?

well, that is my first well drilling rig. my downloads are not too good:)
I am prepping to build a final version late this month? A few tweeks and it should be ready for prime time. I hope?
27 and 21 HP on board for motors and pumps. Lots more but will lock it in later this week. Builders show in 8 weeks?

Interesting, what market are you shooting for with that unit or just for personal use only?
keep TBN posted.

Hi John,
I am going for the off road camp, cottage people. Small rig for commercial off road drilling. You can not see it in the pic but in it"s base form, it can be loaded on a pickup and most trailers or I have narrow track transport kit for it as well as the wider, extra room unit it is on now. As I have reseached it, this unit should be 300+ft capable with a head of 700+ft lb torque and hoist of 5,200 lb along with a mud pump of 21 hp and 300 ft of head possible. The final rendition will use an 8 ft MJ drill pipe. I have designed it to fit into a 4'x4'x12' crate with the narrow track transport kit in case a long distance demand is had?
Hey, one can dream:)

I like the rig. The one I made runs off tractor hydraulics. Can use 10' joints. The swivel was made using pastic pipe and it leaks, needs improvement. The drive motor is a hyd wheel motor, fairly high torque.

What value are you targeting?

I like the rig. Does it have any down pressure? Mud rotary only?

I have a small rig that I use mounted on a skid steer chassis. It probably is 300 ft capable but I only drill 20' most of the time with it. Usually I run augers but it is also set up for air rotary or down hole hammer. I have hydraulic down pressure and it most conditions would not be able to do much without it. It has a 14' stroke.

I like your chop saw stand also. Been wanting to build one like that in my shop.

Thanks to both of you for both comments and questions. Makes me think----like that:)

It is going to be build to order at between 18500 and 19500? 8 ft sticks, 5200lb up and down pressure if wieghted or anchored. Swivel handles up to 500 psi but the hose connections I have 150 level. It could run air but on board is a mud pump that is capable of 400 ft on 6 inch wells. bdog, what kind and brand of mud pump do you run or just air? If air, what size compressor and pressures do you run?
JRP- the swivel I made was tested to 150 with no leaks and full flow but nothing beyond that. The seals are chevron x 5 for 500 plus pounds.

the rig has 48 hp on board and 750 plus ft lb torque and 5200 lb lift and down force. More pics when the final unit finish is done.

bdog, I can post a few close up pics of the saw stand if you would like? Details make diferences.

I just use air - no mud. My compressor is a 210 cfm at 100 psi. Bigger would be better but it works good on the shallow holes I am drilling. Also they are only 3.5" holes which helps as well. Most of the time I just use the auger but in some conditions I use air rotary or DTH. Today I drilled 90 ten foot deep holes with it.

I see a lot of rigs like yours being built and sold to people to use in Africa. Have you considered that market ?

bdog,

Yes I have thought of those markets. I can package the hole rig, trailer kit and 200 ft of drill stem in a 4x4x13 box? easy ship.
How deep can you go with that size compressor? My flex hose is rated at 90 psi but it can be upgraded to 150 to match the rest of the unit.

How many hp is your compressor?

That would be a compact and easy to ship size.

I have not attempted to drill anything deeper than 20' just because I have not needed to. I am sure I could though with my compressor if I wanted to. I drill shallow holes to put dynamite in for oil exploration. The compressor is 210 CFM and 100 psi. It is powered buy a kubota diesel engine - 45 hp I think. It is a big trailer mounted unit. We drilled 80 ten foot holes today.

That's a lot of holes. What type of rig is it? hp-drill stem-head torque? Sounds like you can push down fast. A compressor would be nice but to get 6 inch holes deep, it might mean huge compressor?
Mud is not as spendy. 10 ft holes would only need water in most cases except caving soils.
