What SKU?/brand/model? Thanks.

If the link below is what you're referring to it's $40/each....
Commercial ElectricModel # 54103161(171)

That is the one. Is on sale now in Auburn Mass. I guess other stores may follow with the sale or on line maybe

Ok thanks I think a few of those would work out fine for the storage area
Night time interior pictures.

Standing under the LED, looking up at it to show the light pattern on the roof.

It is 52 feet to the other end of the barn.

The shadow line on the floor is 4 feet from the wall the LED is mounted on.

I like low bay metal halide lights but they're expensive, high wattage and take some time to warm up. The plus side though is that I was about to light up a 25 x 50 shop like daylight with just one 400W fixture, which puts off about 41,000 lumens. When I'm painting stuff, I need lots of light.

Ya, ya gots to love HID metal halide lighting. Very bright. I have 5,000 watts of metal halide lighting up my horse arena. Its like daylight at night

Just wanted to say thanks, old gray, for the tip about these lights. Home Depot app on my phone still shows the $39 plus price, but I picked up 2 at the $25ea price at the Westfield, Ma store yesterday.

As far as light circuits go, I have three in my building. Medium density of light in the entry/work area, lower in the storage area and then a third circuit to double the lighting density over the work benches. I used T8 4' fixtures but I think Menards has LED fixtures on sale for about $25 now.

So question for the smart ones. I was told to be wary of Flourescent lights in wood shops (things with saws) as it the flicker of the ballast could create the visual effect of the saw not spinning.

With the new digital balasts on these Flourescent systems, is this still a concern?

I have always had fluorescent lighting in my woodworking areas, and have never experienced the phenomenon of a saw blade appearing to be stationary.

Ive wired several commercial woodworking shops ....all with fluorescent lights. No complaints.

So this is off an OSHA doc, but they do not say to use it, just warn about it

An employee may be injured if he or she reaches in to clean a saw or remove a piece of wood after the saw has been turned off, but is still coasting or idling. Also, saw blades often move so fast that it can be difficult to determine whether they are moving. This is especially a problem under fluorescent lighting

I believe the real issue is in a busy shop with lots of noise you this accident can occur. I want to say that the highschool I went to had to relight out of Fluorescents for this reason.

Hello,
I was a high school Woodshop teacher for 29 years and I never experienced a problem with the fluorescent lighting. Now if I was working in the shop by myself, let's say during a planning period or after school, of course I knew when a blade was spinning or slowing down to a stop. I was the one that had turned the machine on. You have to rely on your own brain as to what you are doing and not blame the lights or expect the government to protect you. As far as when a class full of students were working, they had to make sure everything on a machine was stopped before they made any adjustments......they were taught by me to observe the machine and make sure everything was stopped. Don't go lifting up guards before the blade is stopped. They were told over and over again what would happen if they came in contact with a table saw blade or any other moving part of a machine. They were told that machines didn't have brains, they did have brains and they were expected to use them. I told them that a machine didn't know or care if it was cutting wood or flesh so they had to rely on themselves for operating the machines correctly. I taught them how to properly use each machine and all the safety issues involved, but ultimately it came down to them in keeping themselves safe.
