3-Point Hitch Short Sub Soiler?

Borrowed a friends sub soiler to use on my GC1705, It was too long and was already digging with the three point lifted as high as it will go. Do you know if there are shorter subsoilers to use on the smaller tractors. Was able to slightly modify my buddies Sub soiler to finish my water line burying project. Would prefer one that fits my tractor if I buy.

Are you able to shorten your lift arms any by using a different mounting hole? What is the style sub-soiler that you have? I ask because some can be adapted to have the hitch pin sit lower on the implement and that effectively raises it when it's mounted. Not sure what style you have but there might be different size points that again, effectively raise or lower the implement.

Thank you Bruce, those look like they might be the better design for my tractor. I'll send agrisupply a question about depth adjustment. Their design is much different than what we used yesterday.

The lift arms on this machine are fixed length. The subsoiler we used is a Fred Cain model. Built very stout too, I might add. For a taller tractor I am sure it would go through just about anything you wanted to dig up.

I'm not sure you can do it with a Fred Cain model but I did it on a different ripper that I have. This one of mine is a real beast and I use it with a smaller Kubota in cat I or bigger Deere as cat II. See photo below.







I added a plate to the sides and spaced the pins roughly 5" or 6" apart. By lowering the cat I mounting you raise the implement. You can also get a shorter point for additional effect.

King Kutter makes a subcompact sized subsoiler/middle buster combo attachment. I bought one recently, but can't comment on effectiveness as I haven't used it yet.

Good idea using extra set of pins to change the depth!

That's a neat idea and you are correct. It wouldn't work on this Fred Cain model...

my neighbor bought a subsoiler to bury some irrigation pipe but his j.d. x585 was too low. I let him use my I-match & it gave him just enough lift not to drag the point. its worth a try if you have access to a quick hitch. good luck.
