Talk about not being nice!!!

most of our faiths have little tolerance for others, sadly.
It's one of the reasons we can't talk about that here.
It's clear what that avatar means, but I'm more interested in what he says, versus
how he wants to identify himself. Our avatar is just one tiny little part of us...

Years ago I offended a guy here so badly he hasn't talked to me since, and it was sure unintentional
on my part, but it upset a fragile old member, a really nice guy, who had some very strong faith beliefs, and he thought
I was being dismissive of his faith. So this other fellow gets upset that I upset this other fellow, who left and never came back.
And I've been shunned ever since.

so yeah, there are rules and there are rules, but what you say here can hurt people's feelings and
sometimes that takes a long time to get over.

I recall that.

Something about forgiving (if offended) that was seriously lacking on the other side. Shocking really, just reading about it.

Typing words on a keyboard....wow. The pen is mightier than the sword and all that.

There had to have been more to it, and it was an over the edge moment.

I voted no but with the caveat that the discipline be even and open although if there was an open list some would try to see home many times they could get their name on it.
Unless they had a banner under their name that said banned on all their post after breaking the rules too many times. I am on another forum that does just that.

I find your avatar infringing on my identity. I think you should change it. /s

LOL.

I haven't voted yet either.
Although I'm on TBN every day, I don't post as often as others and I personally haven't had any issues with the rules as they stand.

My main concern with public rulemaking is as follows.

With the huge membership here, it can easily descend into chaos and require far more time to moderate.

TBN is a tractor forum. Why not maintain that focus. For those who wish to post on hot button issues or topics not permitted here, there are many other forums out there more specific to that subject.

I'm open to minor rule changes but IMO, they could be handled with something as simple as a "suggestion box" rather than a public referendum.

Do you think we should allow the TBN members make the rules by way of proposing and voting on rules?

I have been on TBN for many years. Allowing members here to vote on forum rules would be a mistake, and would almost certainly drive this fantastic site straight into the dirt.

I agree that Muhammad and company should make the rules.
The issue as I saw it was:
1) sudden changes with no notification
2) Removal of whole posts with no feedback as to why
This could be fixed by some guidance so we don't have to wonder why posts are removed.

That Muhammad is asking for an opinion is great, feedback from us is being taken.

It just seemed that people/post were getting whacked without warning and rule changes were not communicated before the hammer came down.

Stuff happens, I hope the people we lost will come back.
This is not true censorship if done correctly, it's just keeping it civil and preventing the site from getting too crazy.

Moderators should not need to justify their moves-only explain why and move on.
It's a thankless job. I certainly appreciate them being here.

And Eddie, We all hope your recovery is quick with no lingering affects.

Well silly me...I think I figured it out. Why this thread....

James left....

I do not spend much time here except for the Gun thread, so I missed his post about leaving. I got ticked off about getting banned for telling the truth and decided to not contribute much to the traffic on the site. My childish way to hurt the owner. But I love to shoot and help others in the sport so the gun thread is "home". Most gun owners are conservatives and I enjoy likeminded folks.

I read the other thread, 15 pages, this morning. Could not sleep so was in the tractor part of the forum "wasting time".

The owner is a liberal running a site that attracts a high percentage of conservatives. Not a good "fit". And let's face it, liberals are having a tough time. They got what they wished for, and it is not working out too well. Inflation, cost of energy, border crisis, Covid, shortages, unemployment, women's sports impacted by "its", CRT protests, mandates struck down by the SCOTUS, record crime etc.

BTW, the owner will tell us he is not a liberal, but it if walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...it ain't a beaver.

Frankly, I did not miss yet another thread on "what tractor should I buy" or "what snow weapon do I need". If I get banned for this post, "wokeness rules".

I haven't voted nor will I. It's your forum to thrive, survive or fail. The fact that you are asking this question is very telling. It should be a sign to you that something is wrong. I suspect losing a few outspoken members over your policing stance is enough to make you take note, or maybe not, who knows. I know I don't like the idea of censorship since I just had a post taken down. Maybe it was called for or maybe not, I don't really care. I don't get into political discussions and I'm able to contain coversations like Covid or the like to the topic. The fact is on this board it's difficult to get into almost any conversation without someone responding with a political slant. I think the mods should use better judgement and a bit of tolerence before slamming the door on a thread.
