...or the "cooking" and "sewing" forums :D (and no offense since I both cook and sew when I need to) Those topics can (and do) fit in with the Rural Living, Related Topics sections or even the Front Porch...

I personally think we need to Remove a forum... the "New Member Introduction" forum  I've seen several times people asking really good questions and needing to get an answer to their question but they receive the normal "canned" responses... no help so they leave. (NOT knocking the canned hellos... much better than none at all).

You don't like my welcomes...:( Like it says "NO TRACTOR QUESTIONS"...

I said "NOT knocking the canned hellos" The problem is... that the newbies are not reading the rule.

Instead of the canned response... let's pick the last one you welcomed... http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-member-introductions/192547-leaky-318-a.html

offer for new guy advice to asking the question in the correct forum and point him to it....

Or the one before that: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-member-introductions/192546-hi.html

I try to point them in the right direction or ask a moderator to move his question to the right place... All I'm saying... is that "welcome" forum gives an empty "hello" and should be changed to something useful... snow removal or cooking! Let's run a Poll with that question... :D

OK, I think it may be time to do away with the canned "Welcome to TBN!!!"...

..but don't stop with welcoming new people... add some personal touch  I don't do it as much but I try and find posts with no replies, and offer (thou, little) help (even if it's to bump the thread to the top so someone else might see and respond).

NOW BACK to the poll if TBN needs a Snow Forum :D

WHY? ... A title scan will discern the subject of a thread. Theres no need for any more forum specificity than is already provided.

I like a lot of forums. It helps devide the topics, so I can just skip the sections that I'm not interested in...

I'm thinking the success of the snow removal forum at LMF (LawnMowerForum), along with the 2/3 majority vote (of those who voted) make for compelling reasons to start the forum.

Of course, I more than anybody think the issue of an almost staggering number of forums is something we need to address. Most TBN members view the TBN forums as one large forum as opposed to a collection of smaller forums. For example, I'm a member of a camera forum (dpreview) where each camera model has its own forum. But I don't notice the fact that there are hundreds of forums because a) there is no "forum index" and b) I only visit the forum related to MY camera. On TBN, members frequent a lot more forums.

I think the solution for us is ultimately going to be a "my favorite forums" feature which will hide forums you don't want to read on a regular basis, and make reading your favorite forums easier.
