I have a shredder 3 point rear mower deck and must replace the blades. I have no manual and would like some help please. How do you remove the blades. This is a 5' Kubota.

I do not have a Kubota cutter nor ever looked under one. Have you? All I have ever seen the bolt that hold blades on are very easy to see and get to.

I would suggest having mower on the tractor and placing blocks to hold it up before getting under it. Some rough cut mowers do have bolt and nut with an access plate on top of the cutter. All finishing cutters I have seen have a bolt that screws in the spindle. I find an impact wrench great in either case. If the blade screws into the spindle some do use left handed threads. Would suspect looking at which way the blade rotates will tell you that. They will be mount so cutting keeps the bolt tight.

Of course if you buying blades from a Kubota dealership they can tell you while there.

Hey welcome to TBN, glad you found us.

It would be nice to see a photo of the shredder. Why do you need to take the blades off. Are you replacing them or just sharpening them? I find that it is a lot more work to take them off to sharpen VS. leaving them in place, raise the rear, brace the mower and sharpen with a hand held grinder.

Thanks for the advise I do appreciate it. The shedder deck is a Land Pride
(sorry) with holes in the top deck to remove the large nuts. Having done this I cannot get the bolt holding the blades to release so the blades can be removed. In answer to why - the blades are 5 years old and badly damaged. They must be replaced.
I have tried driving the bolts using a lage drift and hammer but to no avail. Any help would be great and thanks in advance.

Those are notoriously tough nuts to get off. Have you already tried drenching them with PB Blaster or similar fluid? Heat might also help. Blocking the blade and using 3/4 inch sockets with a large breaker bar would be my next step. Impact wrench if you have that size equipment would be easiest.

You are not the first to have difficulty getting those nuts off.

Filecutter - Spray something like BJ Blaster on the nuts and let it set for a little bit. I have always used an impact wrench to remove and install the blades. Other wise you may need to use a pipe cheater bar to break these nuts loose. Most of the time I can go thru the hole in the deck with an impact whrench. Some times I will re move the mower from the tractor and lift the cutter from the back so I can stand up and work on these guys, but, be sure to block the cutter with something like timbers ... An FEL is idea to lift the cutter if your tracter has one. Good luck!

Thanks but my problem is not the nuts - but the bolts. I have the nuts off but cannot force the bolts thru the drum holding the blades. Again thanks in advance.
