I showed some of these to my wife the other night and she just rolled her eyes. Must be a guy thing.

My wife thought my signature on the old one was dumb and so she drew me the new one! haha.

Derek -
I may have done the first tractor doodle, but I got idea of using a picture from some guy named
msig.gif
. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

In fact, I should have labelled this thread "Tractor Doodles" 'cuz those are the only ones I posted. There are a few photo-type signatures I omitted (no offense, fellas), and then of course, the above-mentioned master of our forum.

(Not overlooking you, Muhammad -- just wanted to see if you were paying attention. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)

Anybody wants to use one, let's say first post to claim it wins. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Harv,

Have you run across one that looks like an 8N?

Grant -

Sorry, I don't have an 8N doodle. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I don't "come across" them so much as I create them for special occasions once in a while (like my Holiday Greeting). It's kind of time consuming, so I just tossed out some of my li'l tractors that I wound up not needing any more to save somebody else some time that could be better spent reading the latest TBN contributions. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Harv,

I thought you appropriated them from somewhere else and put them to life. BTW, excellent work on that Christmas card. I went back and played it 3 times in a row after seeing it!
Is the process of making these little tractors something I could do with my computer? Thanks.

Grant -

There's a lot of pixel drawing programs out there. I happen to use Adobe Photoshop 'cuz I've used it a lot and am comfortable with its features.

In the beginning, I just eyeballed a picture of a tractor and sketched it up as best I could. I make heavy use of the Undo feature. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

The last few I did, I got a little more sophisticated and started with a digital picture of a real tractor. I shrunk it down to the actual size I wanted, created a semi-transparent layer over it, and essentially "traced" it in (still using a lot of Undo's).

The one I'm using for my own signature was my earliest attempt and I should probably update it someday, but it kind of suits me now, so I'll probably leave it the way it is. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Excellent, Grant!!!

That's really superb! I think we're flushing out the real artists on this board. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I call my stuff "doodles" 'cuz that's really the most I am capable of, but yours is a real work of art! I'm totally impressed. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

DFB and Harv,
Thanks, you are too kind. After all my manipulations with the images they took on some noise or fuzziness around the edges. I'll probably clean them up eventually.

Jim,
You have to put the full path to your image - like this:
[_image_]http://www.frontiernet.net/~goehring/markcg_sig.gif[_/image_]

(Note: I put the underscores in so you could see the characters, but you need to take them out /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif)

Also, I'm not sure, but I think the signature works better as a GIF, not a jpg.
