Never heard that before; what's supposed to be wrong with the P226 DAK that makes you say it's junk? A local gun dealer told me the DAK models are the more popular model back east but the DA/SA is more popular in this area. I don't know whether that's true or not, nor do I know why it is, if it is. My P229 has never failed, jammed, or caused any problem of any kind. But I do clean and oil my guns any time one is fired for any reason. And I guess 100 rounds is the most I run through it in one day.

We had many failures out of the box with them. We had some that you could not pull the trigger with a magazine in. If you eject the magazine with a round in the chamber it would fire. Never a problem with the DA/SA P226. I also didn't like the much harder trigger pull on the trigger reset.

My guys gave me a Sig 1911 two tone reverse when I retired in 2013 from the Air National Guard. I love the gun. It has never failed in any way. It is however a little heavy carrying it for any length of time. I carry my Kimber Pro CDP in the field or the Walter PPK/S in public.

The 1911 is a great gun, love the trigger pull on those. A little more complex to break down and clean tho.

I bought this Sig Sauer Target 1911 last year. Took it out to my range, and straight out of the box was drilling head shots at 60 ft. Heavy, but nice to shoot. View attachment 464212

And speaking of ' plastic ' guns, this is my FNH Tactical 45 with a silencer, ( only took 6 months for the gubmint paperwork! ) Sweet gun to shoot.

I have 2 Sig Sauer P226. My first one is a West German made, the second is a New Hampshire made P226 Blackwater, Both are great guns. The P229 is just slightly smaller.

Thanks gents for the reply's, As most of you know the P229 Legion is suppose to be the best of the best Sigs, it's a bit smaller then the P226 but I believe the rail and slide is a heavier machined piece then the other Sig models but I Don't believe any are junk just that the P229 Legion is suppose to be the cats meow. My favorite carry is my Kimber CDP Pro carry in .45,as the 1911's were what I used shooting for the Marines, but this Legion Sig Sauer has my interest. Check it out here. Legion Series | Sig Sauer

I was so impressed with the P220 I sold a Colt Gold Cup NM Series 80. Lighter, more accurate, couldn't be simpler to use. Shown vs a military M1911A1.

I have P229 in.357 Sig. It was originally issued to NC Dept of Motor Vehicles. Great carry weapon. Hard to beat 12+1 .357 125g Gold Dots at 1375 fps.
