the ammo boxes are 11 inches long, each by about 4 wide. They'll hold some decent size tools, but I don't usually carry tools for tractor repairs as I usually don't take the tractor too far from my workshop. I'm retired and not using the tractor commercially, so if it breaks, I can take the time to get what I need to fix it, there's no hurry. Chains, pins, clips, chainsaw stuff, gloves, etc will be what I use them for.
Great tip Pilgrim. I just throw stuff behind the seat. It stays there because i made a new seat pan so I didn't feel like I was "perched" on the tractor and the lowered seat tends to retain things but this is a superior option
