Single oil for multiple tractors

A 0w30, 5w30 or 10w30 oil can replace any oil requirement for straight 30w, long as they're diesel rated.

For my money I'd go with a 0w30 if I could find it. So far, I haven't found such for a diesel. My VW TDI uses a special 507 C3 oil made by Castrol that's 5w30. You can buy it at a VW dealership.

We've got some 0W40's up here.... Mobil might meet your VW spec, possibly Castrol. Can't say I've seen a 0W30 yet.

Bought some Amsoil OE 10W30 this week, to run in my 7.3 this winter.

that amsoil loked like ti was rated for up to 2007 diesels..e tc. according to spec anyway.

Probably correct. It lacked the current CJ-4 classification which is required for most, if not all, Tier IV engines. Most CJ-4 oils are backwards compatible now.

I don't know if this helps of muddy's the water. My tractor manual Specifies API Specifications of CC or CD? could not find any. the attatched chart is from the API folks and it may help. page 3 and 4 list categories.

For all the tractor uses just purchase some pre 2007 HD diesel rated 10W30 Oil. And use a block heater. Where in Ontario?

OP - when you say "newer", what years are those tractors ?
