Got 8" of heavy wet snow. Thougth I'd need th snowblower. Nope, front plow worked great. So far, not sure if I even need the snowblower. I may just hook it up for fun to see how it does. I currently keep the sander hooked up to the 3pt hitch. I was thinking of either hooking the rear blade up and try runnig both the front and rear blades to get my driveway done in 1 run down and one run back up. The other option is to hook up the rear snow blower to get rid of the windrows the plow makes. Decisions decisions.

The one thing I noticed is I'm much more picky about the clean up than anyone I previously hired before to do it.
Also, took some photos, will u/l them as soon as i get a chance.

Well took the sander off and hooked the blower up. Does a real nice job, but does not throw the snow (at 540rpm) like my 8hp Honda track drive does. Probably gets it 10 feet vs. 50 ft for the Honda. Then again it does not sound 1/2 as loud either.

I was gonna ask if that's pto rpm's or engine rpms you were referring to at 540, but that's not likely anyone could mix that up, but I guess possible?:) I would think it would throw snow more than 10 ft though. I'm not familiar with pto blowers, are they single stage or what?
Our total accumulation for the winter is about 1/2" so I haven't gotten a chance to try any of my gadgets.
Good luck,
JB.

Yea PTO speed. Engine RPM was ~2500 RPM. Two stage. Maybe they regeared the newer ones for higher RPM at the 2nd stage.

Some photos of my blade setup with the sander on. I now have the used rear New Holland 716C snow blower that I picked up on. After a little over a year I finally have a scratch... I was using the rear snow blower and used the top hydraulic link to tilt up the blower so it would not scrape the gravel. When I went to lift the blower with the normal 3pt lift, I was not looking back. The handle for the chute rotater got caught under the fender. I heard a click click and immediately dropped the blower. I now have a slightly customized rear fender. A little nick (1/4") where the rod was and a small crack (3") (not through) in the end of the fender, but not running out to the edge, so I doubt if it will spread. The rod was pretty bent up so I used a large pipe wrench to straighten it back out. Dang. Oh well, it could have been worse, like taking out the entire fender...

BTW, I am glad I do not rely upon the snow blower as backing up really sucks compared to the front plow on the arms. I also think that any worries about lateral pressure are misplaced. If I push a load of snow with the plow fully angled and in float position the tractor still want to just go straight so the pressure on the arms appears to be evenly spread between the two arms.

DCJL, lateral pressure with a loader mounted front blade isn't a problem, until.....................you hit that hidden immovable object!

Yeah that's what bugs me about mounting one on my tractor-busting a loader arm. I hate it when you buy a piece of equipment and have to treat it like a china doll.

Looks great, I hear alot of talk about the tractor getting pushed away from the angled blade but with chains I'm sure it would be minimized.
Do you have to fool around with adjusting the curl cylinders or do you just get it close and use the float?
We're supposed to get up to 14"s tomorrow which is probably double an average snow fall, so I'll get a chance to update some posts with my experiences.
JB.
