Bradley 48" stander MF GC1710
Is there an option offered by MF for an underbelly skid plate for GC17xx tractors? The only aftermarket option I found was from Bro-Tek, I dunno if I like their design much. Also, they emailed me a few days ago saying they're filling current new orders only in spring 2020?!!

I've not seen any-been looking myself. I don't quite like the Bro-Tek design, either. You might just have to fabri-cobble one that suits you.

I'm thinking you're right about the fabri-cobbling thing.

I was thinking the same thing about getting or fabricating a skid plate, once you drop the mower it leaves the bottom open and when I cleared the sumac I heard a couple of sounds from under the 1705 that meant a sumac stem was hitting something it should not be hitting and I knew what it was, I looked under it and thankfully nothing was damaged, it was a wake up call for me to figure something out.

Brotek makes a rear only plate for MF GC's but I don't know anyone who has one. They are the only retail option I'm aware of.

I too wish I had skid plates (especially when brush cutting) and might end up buying diamond plate and fabricating my own.

Yeh, and also the other thing about the bro-tek one, it entirely encapsulates the hst fan. skid_lg.jpg

I mean obviously that what the plate is there for, to protect it, but doesn't fully enclosing it like that defeat the purpose of the fan? I guess you could cut some slits in there, but shouldn't have to.

I made my own sort of similar to Bro-Tek’s. I didn’t like the diamond plate facing down on their design. Seemed like it would hang up on rocks and other obstacles instead of sliding over them. No indication at all of the hydraulics running hot due to possibly obstructing the air flow to the fan. I have worked the heck out of it on hot summer days and I don’t think it is an issue.

The brotek plate can breath out each side. If you look closely the bottom is covered and the filter is covered but the sides are wide open

I see they only list 1720 but they all should be the same, 1705, 1710, 1715, 1720.
