Trying to figure out something about skid steer quick attach mounting plates. There are two sets of holes in the bottom of the bucket side attach plate. Why is this? I have a kubota bucket that only has the outer set of holes. I am in the process of trying to make a skid steer adapter plate for the tractor side of my mahindra 3016. I think the factory adapter uses the inner set of holes not the outer set like the bucket I am trying to adapt to has. The plates I bought with my loader have the lever pivot right in the middle of where the mounting ears are for my loader. This makes it a pain in the ass to make as compact as possible. So why doesn't my kubota skid steer bucket not have the inner set of holes at the bottom? Are they trying to keep smaller tractors from mounting a bucket over 60" wide or what by not having the inner set of holes? I guess I can add a plate to the bottom of the bucket with the inner set of holes. So if use the inner set of holes, will that bite me in the butt with the next so called universal mount that is not universal. Why is this Kubota bucket a bastard?

It's not clear to me, does your tractor have a ssqa or you've added a ssqa adapter TO your tractor?
Some of these tractor to ssqa adapters can be funny as there's simply not the width needed in the tractors arms and front end to adapt to the ssqa standard dimensions.
As for the "inner" set of mounting points on your plate, I don't know. It could be for the smaller ssqa that is used on the walk behind machines.
I've been around SS's for 30 years and it used to be normal to see another set of mounting points on aftermarket attachments. But that was back before Bobcats version was accepted by all the manufacturers as the standard.

I am trying to convert my Mahindra 3016 from pin on to SSQA. I bought some starter plates off Amazon. I want my levers to not be to no be between the mounting ears but if I stay at the standard SSQA spacing, I don't see a way around it. Mahindra must be using a narrower bastard spacing in order to get the lever to be between the mounting ears not underneath them. Aftermarket buckets have a lip across the entire top of the bucket. Factory ones adhere to the standard and don't have the inner set of lock pin holes. The levers being under the mounting ear increases the standoff distance and adds thickness to the adapter. Ok here is the problem. It looks like Mahindra used a norrowed down version of the SSQA or a BASTARD configuration in order to get a low profile with the levers between the locking pin mechanism as opposed to underneath them. So they have wacked about 2 inches off each side and used the inner locking pin hole in the bucket side mounting plate. Their mounts are not at the normal 44 inches wide but maybe 40 inches wide. So a Mahindra could mount to a SSQA bucket with 2" slop on both sides but a skid steer could not mount to the Mahindra bucket because it is a bastard 40" wide setup. The ear spacing on my tractor is 32 inside and 39.75 outside. Which puts the locking pins about 36in apart which is right in the middle which is where you don't want it to be because now you have to move your mounting holes farther back. If you can have your locking pin not underneath your mounting ears then you can be 2-3 inches closer with your bucket. The first image is my CAD drawing with the Amazon latch plates at 44 inches and my loader ear spacing. The second image is a drawing of the Mahindra quick attach which I don't have and I am trying to reverse engineer. I may have to compromise and live with the pins being farther away from the bucket or start from scratch and make new latch plates from scratch. The Kubota bucket that I bought does not have the inner lock pin holes so it would have to be modified if I cheat like Mahindra did and make a Bastard SSQA. As an engineer, I don't like standards that are not standardized.

The inner holes are for the old case model 1835 skid steer and the outer ones are for the rest.

I just finished converting all six of our tractors to quick attach. Now we can swap out with the skid steer. Used worked over junk yard finds for some of them, on the tractor side.

Don't understand your problem. A universal adapter tends to have extra holes. Many many machines use that connect mechanism.

The problem is I will have to have a larger stand off distance from the loader arms to the bucket if I make mine SSQA compliant. I can make a narrow version which is quite common, I am finding out, but it won't fit my Kubota bucket. So if I go with the narrow version, I will have to use the inner lock pin holes which my bucket does not have, or make mine standard width and reduce my loader capacity because the pins will have to be 3 inches farther away from the bucket. Either way, I have to modify some stuff. I am trying to figure out which way is going to give me the most benefits with the least about of fabrication. A generic SSQA adapter that you weld your bucket ears to will add about 6 inches to that bucket stand off distance, which on a small tractor will kill lift capacity.

I just made ears for the quick attach and kept it close to loader. Skinned all the mess off the bucket and bought a quick attach frame for it. We usually have extras around here anyways. Kept it real close. Works great.
