The pins look like they don't go into the bucket slots far enough to me, judging from the photos.
The wedge type pins do work very well if working right and set up properly.
Example, I have the skid steer type quick attach on my tractor( Kioti ) with the wedge type pins. I can backdrag all day long and could not knock the bucket off no matter how hard I tryed.
I run a Case skid steer with the exact same type setup and wedge type pins. This thing takes some serious abuse every day, and does huge amounts of backdraging. Bucket is on there tight. Its not coming off.

Your right Vince. Those pins don’t go down far enough. My skid steer quick attach pins go down though the adaptor plate until the plate is resting against the straight part of the pin shaft. I have never had an attachment come off unless I didn’t get it hooked up right. I have had a couple adaptor plates that I had to enlarge the holes slightly so the pins would go down all the way. I wonder if this is why the pin isn’t seated correctly.

I have the same QA as in Martin's pics and never had it fall off while back dragging. I personally can't see how it could ever come unattached because of the way it is made. When adjusted properly the levers will remain in the closed, locked position regardless of what your doing, loading or back dragging.

Thats what needs done here ( my opinion). Use a tourch and trim away some of the backside of the holes so the pins can go down farther.

Don't get out the torch yet. I was at my dealer today to pick up my new L5030 and I too ordered a QA option to my LA853. I asked about the units dropping the bucket while back dragging and got a very good answer. Kubota has a kit out to fix the problem. They don't list it for the LA854 but if you order the pin upgrade kit for the 1002 when you open the box it tells you it will fit the LA853.

It's very simple. Inside the coil spring the pin is connected to there is a small bushing about 1/2 the length of the spring. Kubota's fix kit supplies a second bushing that you just drop inside th spring and bolt it back together. The service manager checked mine while I was there and mine had been done by Kubota at the factory. He showed me an older unit that he still had to fix and it all became very clear.

Check with your dealer and have him call Kubota. Or have him call the service manager at Mason Tractor in Blue Ridge, GA 706-632-3777 (Ask for Freddie or the service manager)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the pics - this helps. I haven't had a chance to look at other QA's much and the ones I have seen you usually can't get a look at the bottom because the FEL is on the ground. These pics are helpful. The only other thing I wonder about is that it looks like the locking pin sticks out far enough when it is locked into that it would drag on the ground - or is it high enough up on the back of the bucket that this is not a problem?

Yes, that's right Jim, the assembly will be higher once mounted on the attachment and will be up out of the dirt.

When you have a pinned bucket, then get the QA, do you need to get a different bucket to use with it? I just ordered L5030 with LA853 and HD pinned bucket, and am wondering if I should have added QA. Pallet forks would be handy at times.

buckeye, you will need to get a different bucket unless you are handy with a cutting torch and a welder. I really enjoy the my quick attach. I'm glad I got the dealer to change mine out before I bought it.

I have the LA 853 with Q/A. With the kubota bucket I can lift the front of the L5030 off the ground and back drag all day. If fact my tractors first 400 hrs were with a landscaping company and the bottom of the bucket is all dented in and the front cutting edge worn off from backdragging.

I did pop a set of non-kubota pallet forks on it and had them pop off the other day moving logs, I was trying to pull one back to the tractor.

My loader doesn't have the fix it kit and looks like the pins don't even really touch the slots on the pallet forks. Never noticed until now cause you don't back drag forks much!
