Hello- I'm looking for a deckover gooseneck flatbed to haul hay and my Kubota M59 for some jobs to pay for itself. I've rented beavertail flatbeds and really disliked the rear clearance going up driveways etc. and I keep seeing an old Load-All 22' gooseneck slide axle for sale. It has been for sale over a year now, and I'm intrigued. I cant find any info on the Load-all brand online, but the concept seems handy, and this machine has a winch up front, with a pulley almost to the rear. Would the winch be used to move the 3 axles back and forth, or do I use the truck forward or backwards with the trailer brakes engaged? Are they worth the hassle or should I look for a hydraulic tilt, or a fixed bed with big ramps? I'd pay no more than $5000 as it needs batteries and tires.

I just got a load trail gooseneck dump and it seems well built. As for a tilt or sliding axle trailer can't help you. I have a dove tail gooseneck trailer and have not had much problem with it dragging, but really want to upgrade it to a hydraulic dovetail trailer easier to load and no ramps.

I’d imagine the winch would move the axles. Neat concept, but if you are just pulling your tlb and hay might be unnecessary. If you were hauling slot of different stuff and really needed to screw with tongue weight than I could see the need. I’m not a fan of the really long ramps for a flat deck trailer. They will be really heavy.

Usually the axel locking mechanism is loosened and the electric brakes are set or the tires are blocked. Drive the rig back and forth as needed to get close to the right setting. The locking mechanism can be engaged and will drop into the hole when you get to it.

I have been considering a gooseneck deck over rollback trailer, but tend to procrastinate, so am still waiting for me to do it.

Nice pics X. I've never saw a trailer like that.

Never seen it in smaller trailers but the majority of semi trailers have sliding tandems.
Lock the brakes, pull the pin release and slide, then make sure pins are back in.
It is done with semi's to get axle weight legal most of the time.
I used to pull a 48' Landoll flatbed that had hydraulic sliding tandem.
It had about a 15' ram to move tandem. I even used it to get unstuck!
And with tandem all the way forward it was like backing a 20' trailer.
Tandem had to be back for highway use.
I think a goose with slider would be great!

Pictures to prove it exists. This one is a combination sliding axle and tilt It would have less overhang behind the axles than a regular tilt:

When I was looking, Kwik Load said they could build a 16K GN Rollback for me, but I didn't pursue it any further because I am still able to lift the ramps on my 22' deckover 14K GN.

About the only thing wrong with a manual sliding axle setup is having every thing aligned so the pins pull easily. Stop for a moment and thing about how many "big truck" trailers that are out there on the road with manual sliding tandems? Other than meeting bridge laws and making it easier to drag a trailer around corners, being able to slide the trailer axles is more useful to back into a tight sight or for a roll off situation.

Sliding tandems on a semi trailer isn't what this discussion is about. The ability to tilt and drop the bed to the ground is what's significant. X has posted some great pics!!!
