You're right! I'd forgotten about the PowerTrac machines.

That's a cool, affordable slope mower. We used to have an Allis Chalmers 620, and it had a 5' mid-mount sickle bar mower. Used it to mow under citrus trees. Worked great to control weeds under the trees.
I'm surprised that there aren't more mid-mount sickle bar mowers in use, or even made anymore.

That contraption is called a walking excavator. The brand is a <font color="blue">Kaiser </font>.

Thanks - that thing is the coolest piece of equipment I have ever seen /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif . Makes me think about quitting my job, selling the house ,and buying one just so I can go around digging stuff up.

Buckcreek, yeah it'll mow slope down. It was advertised as being the ticket for mowing down into creek beds /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I also use it to mow around a small pond and I'll guess I've mowed at approx 25 degree slope down. Since the bank in the picture borders a busy county road I only mow it slope up.

Hobbyfarm, thanks. I found that sicklemower (SM) last year. Wheelhorse made a 42" SM that was designed for my 856 but when I found this 60"er last year and also found out that the fellow had parts for both we decided to "adapt" frame parts from both to enable the 60" to work. It works pretty well, two swipes at the pictured bank and no-mo hr long weed wacker sessions /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
That 60'er does vibrate the little tractor like crazy tho /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a bank that looks about like that, but it slopes down to a busy two lane road. I bet if someone made a sicklebar mower for a BX it would be very expensive
