Slow Moving Vehicle Sign SMV is an accessory or comes with a new tractor?

"low Hour Trade In" That definitely would make A difference in this situation. It then falls under and similar to a used car....and sold as is.....and then that makes it up to the dealer or the customer to supply the SMV sign or anything else the customer wants to pay for the dealer to add...... However sounds like your dealer may be going to help you out and get you a sign.....Is it still $20 out of your pocket? if not then i would say the dealer is trying to help keep you happy after the sale.. In the future if he wants to add the sign to a used tractor that did not come into his dealership with the original one he should put one on it and just adjust the overall used price to absorb the addition...Heck! he would probably make $50 bucks more this way and cover his butt in the long run......

I am sure the new tractors even though they come with them as standard equipment we the customer pay for them somewhere in the overall price....

Does it have a bracket?
If it was new, it came to the dealer with a SMV sign, apparently they sent it with someone else's tractor.
Most tractor stores (Tractor Supply, Farm and Fleet, etc) carry them for $20ish.

It sounds like you have a BAD dealer. Contact Kubota Customer Service at: 310-370-3370 extension 1844 and tell them what your dealer told you.

Sounds like he redeemed himself.

glenk - If you were closer I would send you one of mine. I got one with each of my tractors, my Rhino rear blade, and one other of my implements. I have four, gathering dust, never use them - never go out on the paved roads. Also - have been unable to find an alternate use.

A SMV sign came with my Ford 1710 when purchased new in '82 and with my Kubota M6040 when purchased new in 2009.

I keep spare SMV signs and brackets around my shop because they do get lost or bent up. I've also had to remove the tractor SMV due to interference and right now I can't tell you with what, but the attachment I was using had a SMV. They're cheap, easy to replace, no reason not to have them around. A dealer should supply one - liability and their cost likely less than $10 but a private party transaction would be what you see is what you get.

Thank you for the generous offer. I think I'm in good shape now. I have a slight leak with a hydraulic coupler and the dealer will come over to look at that as well as install the SMV.

I too didn't expect to be driving off the property but you never know and it is a legal requirement in California.

Thanks again to all that provided me the information about the sign. I had never heard of it, wouldn't have known what it was even if I saw it displayed.

The SMV is only for operating at slow speeds on public roads and most cops take a dim view when towing.

Oh come ON! Not that I doubt you, Mate, but come ON! The tractor (or implement with a SMV sign) is obviously on a trailer/float being transported to a destination.

How 'money grubbing' is that?

It certainly doesn't apply to Tassie... although, now that my 'outrage' has dissipated, I do recall that (bloody) Queensland Cops will fine you for having your amber 'whoop-whoop' light flashing if you are not within a "working area".

I was hitchhiking once and a guy hauling new cars picked me up. He let me ride in a new Audi. When he got stopped and ticketed for speeding the trooper wrote me up as well.
