Let's just admit it fellas... no one really wants to put their hands down the potty to find out what might be in there, now do they. :p

People actually pay me very good $$ to do just that and worse;)

well, here's Amazon.com: Toilets Buying Guide ya'll some good reading on the different types of toilets ,different flushing types, larger flush valves /S traps, etc. those with the 3'' & 4'' flappers (in the bowl )along with a larger S trap really do a fantastic job of flushing

I'm just wondering if something made it past the flapper and is partially blocking the jet at the bottom of the bowl. You know...it's like that power jet of water that shoots toward the drain when flushed. With a good jet, it should shoot Mr. Hankey right out of there.

Question: If I put in a new low flow toilet is the existing DWV system adequate? In other words, does the pitch of the main line down to the septic tank need to be altered since less water will be carrying...the load, so to speak....down the pipe?

Negative . I have never had to alter any drain lines just because I replaced a toilet. It should flow just fine

" There are NO repeat NO valves in a toilet bowl."

All depends,
At our lake most of us installed RV toilets for the low flush ability as we are very environmental minded.
Those RV units DO have a flapper like valve.

I'm having the same problem with the toilet at the farm house that we only go to about once a month. Solids frequently don't go down. I haven't pulled the toilet to take a look-see.

I saw the same problem at a client's chalet.
At the septic tank entry port the solids actually backed up and exited like a plug but got stopped by the baffle.
When I first looked in I thought the workers had forgotten to cut the entry pipe.

Told the clients to take more showers or simply run the water often.

This is one situation where water saver appliances work against you.

I have had very good performance from the relatively inexpensive replacement toilets that both Costco and Sams sell ("Water Ridge" IIRC). Bought 3 for the new house and liked them so well that we bought 3 more for the old house. Dual flush "buttons", one for larger loads, one for smaller. I was concerned about finding replacement parts for them, but so far after several years of use, none have been needed.

My current favorite brand for toilets is the Jacuzzi brand. This is the only brand that I've installed that I never hear any complaints from my clients, and I install quite a few toilets every year. I have a Crane commercial toilet in my house and it's nothing to brag about. One day I'll replace it with a Jacuzzi one. I've read great reviews of Toto, especially about their glazing process and how nothing sticks to it, but the few that I've seen in higher end homes haven't impressed me.
