Thanks for the links, I checked them out. A rear mount PTO mower setup isn't going to work at the present property, so I need to stick to options with mid mounts.
I am still negotiating on this BX2200, I think I have gotten them to a feasible price point, my only concern now is how hard it has been used, it basically took care of the grounds for an entire clinic. I don't think it was beat on, but it is hard to say when something is owned by an institution and they are covering the repair bills. I am going to try and get the serial number and see what repair records the Kubota dealer has.
If I check it out in person and something isn't to my liking which would require a little time and effort to fix, I imagine I could talk them lower. It sounds like they want to move it.
Does anyone have any BX tractors with hours over 2000?

Well I am back to looking since they sold the BX2200 out from under me after they accepted my offer.
I think I will keep following the subcompact line and see what turns up in the future.

Thanks for the help, all

Keep checking Craigslist. Things come and go. I found my B2620 on Craigslist with one last look before I was going to the dealer to buy a B2920.

I'd look for a nice b7100 4wd hst. Very rugged little tractors, I recently read about one with 9500+ hours on it and still truckin! I'd think the 6100 or any of the early B tractors would be just as good.

I have heard that the older B series were tough little tractors.

when it gets closer to winter, i am sure you will see more posts that go along the line of... getting a snow plow for a truck / suv. (quicker snow plowing) vs tractor.

gas vs diesel, gas can be just as good. more so if you don't own anything else that is diesel. (truck / car, other tractor, etc..) less gas cans, less oil types if ya stay with gas.

www.tractorhouse.com
www.craigslist.org (hint use SearchTempest: Search all of Craigslist nationwide & more) to search multi cities at one time of craigslist.
TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors if ya find a tractor, look up specs on the site. to get general overall idea of teh tractor.

if ya buying used, model / make / manufacture. is second on list, compared to how good the unit is over all.
there is crud used, and good used.
used = repairing it. regardless of age.
every machine is going to have different wear and tear and slopyness.
stay with the bigger manufactures for parts, and you should be good.

service/shop manual can come in extremely handy dealing with older stuff and diagnosing and repairing it all (with diagrams and explanations)

I would look for the best garden tractor you can find. You may not get diesel and you may not get 4wd. You can get around pretty well with rear chains and weight. I would say better in snow and ice than 4wd. The extra cost or hours on a diesel may negate the benefits. You can buy a lot of fuel for $1000. A 5 or 7 series John Deere would do pretty well and have service centers everywhere.I think you may have to raise your limit about $3000 to get exactly what you want.
