small generator

i was looking at harbor freight and saw a small generator, noted that this generator is sold by a bunch of folks including cabela, northern tool, amazon, rural king, looked at reviews on eham.net, ham radio operators are fanatical about power supply purity and emergency operations, several of the hams had tested this generator found the power to be acceptable, for 99 bucks it is a bargain, mine has been run about 10 hours so far it is very stingy on fuel and also will automatically throttle back if the demand drops. will run all kinds of portable power tools, is very portable, fuel efficient, good item for a work vehicle or to take with you to the field on your tractor. seems that some of these have

this small generator has been very usefull, some of them have a 12 volt dc output also to charge batteries.

As an aside, I stumbled onto this forum thread (below) about Chinese portable generators and find it the best source I've seen. The upshot is that they seem to feel that some brands (Champion) are well engineered and with good quality control, while others from China are a collection of parts. I have no first hand knowledge, though I did notice that Costco sells Champion and they seem to be picky about what they sell.
