Thank you sir for those nice comments. There very much appreciated. When ever I get some slack time (which is usually on a day off that usually ends up on a weekend) I clean the shop and do any tooling repairs to get ready for the week ahead. I like to keep things organized I guess

I have to change the subject here for a little while but I love Beagles and I noticed two of them in your avatar. We had a Beagle for 13 years and it was a pet and we never used it for hunting but it still managed to bring a rabbit or two home from time to time.

Our youngest son always wanted a Beagle so we got it for him when he was just a small boy and after he had grown up and joined the Navy we looked after "Spot" for the remainder of her life. She passed away a few years ago and the wife and I still miss her immensely.

On a more positive note. The young Navy son returned home last year and wanted another Beagle and he wanted it to be from the same area where we got his first one so off we went and came home with "Milo".

Milo is strictly a house dog and very spoiled and I don't think I've ever seen anything enjoy life as much as that dog. The first photo shows our old dog "Spot".
The second is "Milo" and the third is our boys cat snuggled up with Milo. I refer to Milo as my Grand Dog

Sorry for going off subject here but as I said. Love the avatar and thanks for the memories

Still off topic.

The joy that a dog that loves life and living seems to rub off on the owner somehow. They are so free and unburdened with life's baggage that it feels like it lifts our burdens as well. One can't help but smile and enjoy the moment along with the dog.

Milo looks like my 2 1/2 yr old "Gurdy".......great hunting dog.....she lives outside with Magnum in a insulated/heated doggy condo......

We'll be heading out huntin' tommorrow in the White Mountains......:D

Dogs do bring a certain joy to our lives in this crazy fast lane world.....A neighbor confided in me one day saying "At least Somebody is happy to see me when I get home".....

Man you nailed it on the head. You know dogs and what benefits they can be to have around. Very well put and very accurate. Thanks

OH man I just love those pictures  Man they look like nice dogs. You would think me being here in Newfoundland would like the Newfoundland dog and I do but the Beagle got a special place in my heart. I guess you'd have to own one to know and I'm sure you know what I mean. Your dogs look happy and it's easy to see. If I show these photos to the wife she'll want to get another one. I'm forwarding them to my son to view.

Thanks for posting the pics. Oh nice tractor to!

I caught a glimpse of your press-brake in the background. Looks similar to mine, and even same hammered silver/grey color  my question though is how do you like using the smaller press brake on your Iron Worker vs. the closed-end press brake I saw back on your press?

I was thinking an iron worker would let me sheer, and punch since I have a press brake already... but seeing you use the smaller one the one-side open end looks like it gives you more options for bending. Have you found this to be the case? Or are you still using the other one on your press as much ??

Oh, and how did you manage to lift your compressor up there :confused2:

cool shop, and thanks for sharing the pics!

You got a good eye sir. I made two presses a few years ago. I think I may have posted them on here. I made a large 23" one and a 10" one and they have been great for my work here in the shop BUT they have there limits. For one thing the large one is big time heavy and tough to lift up there on the press which by the way I built about 11 years ago but that's another story.

Having the presses with closed ends is a bit of a pain and the press it's self can get in the way at times. If you look closely at the Ironworkers brake you'll notice it has a four sided die to it. Having it this way lets you use different thickness' material and will put a sharper bend in the materiel plus the fact that it's an open end makes removal very easy and fast if your doing multiple bend like the ones I have pictured. I snapped a close up of the Ironworkers bending brake die for your viewing pleasure :)

To answer your question on how I go the compressor up there. Well that was 15 years ago and I never had much to work with. I had no one to help and no forklift so desperate means takes desperate measures so I got some scaffolding and set it up and used a chain hoist to lift it. I did it in increments and it took hours. I don't advise anyone to try it but like I said I was desperate and had to get it up there so I could open for business. I could do that same job now with my fork lift in five minutes.

Your more than welcome on me the sharing the photo's. I don't know much but I don't mind sharing what I do know and thank you for posting

As someone who has to use a vise and hammers to bend metal, I love seeing your various presses- especially the Ironworker! Since I don't do stuff for money, just out of need, I usually don't have just the tools I need. I sure have a mottley collection of tools and small machines, and I appreciate professional equipment. I haven't had a dog since I was 5 years old, but I liked reading about the virtues of dogs. Keep posting- lots of us really enjoy seeing what's new with Specialty Repairs.

I'm not an engineer and I didn't sleep at a holiday inn last night.

Those welds are beautiful you do god work.
We need soome one like you near were I work now!

I worked for a conveyor shop many moons ago more like decades ago .
They would drill the shell were the inner disk was and plug weld it in place besides the end welds.
Again I don't know why I but that is how they made them if they were stub shafts.
The bore was stepped so the inner ring was the tube id the outer ring fit in to a bore on the end of the roller.
