The older I get it seems I need a flashlight around to see what the heck I am doing.I have opted for a small/tiny in the pocket LED flashlight about 2 1/2 - 3 inches or so.The two that I recently purchased are the Olight i3e & Fenix e12.One runs off 1 AAA battery the other 1 AA battery. What flashlights are you folks using ?

Mostly using the LED freebie lights from HF in the house and garage. There's always a coupon for one several times a month so I pick one up whenever I go by. For use in the vehicles I have D cell mag lights.

I've got a Streamline Stylus Pro that I really like. Almost as strong as my Surefire G5 and much longer battery life.

I'll +1 the Olight i3E. Impressive light from a tiny AAA form factor. An EDC front pocket item for me.

Still using my old mini Mags with two AAs. I like that they are thin. You can also turn them into a small lantern in a pinch, by unscrewing the lens cap and inserting the butt end and standing it upright. The HF LED freebies are adding up around the house and shop. Can never have enough utility knives, tape measures, pencils, and little flashlights lying around IMO.

I've got so many wee torches around the house that I've lost count, even a couple of LED head mounted ones. A few are out in the shed (just inside the door) and there are a couple of them on the key-ring of my ute + in the ute itself.

They accumulate by osmosis.

I have a Streamlight 66318 micro stream which is about the size of a AA battery. It's a whole lot brighter than my IPhone flashlight. I have a Streamlight 88033 protac which is a lot brighter than micro stream, but is a little big for a pocket flashlight. I have a Streamlight 75458 stinger that I keep in my truck. It's rechargeable which is a huge plus for me. It puts 3 cell mag lights to shame even the LED ones. I have a Streamlight light box that I also keep in my truck, and it's also rechargeable. It's a little on the heavy side, but it's super bright. The flashlight I use a lot is the one on my IPhone. Here is my 3 cell LED mag light with fresh batteries. It's a factory LED. I have a few old ones I converted to LED with an aftermarket bulb and there're less bright. image-3818626781.jpg Here's my Streamlight stinger. image-3982824393.jpg Here's the light box. image-1538741248.jpg All 3 lights were aimed at the same target, and were the only light source.

The new technology of these small flashlights & the lumens/light they put out is pretty impressive.

Fenix E35. I stumbled across the CR123 battery-powered flashlights a few years ago when trying to find a small, bright, light for deer hunting. There are a number of manufacturers but these lights are unbelievably bright and use a cR123 battery that costs about a buck apiece on line. Way brighter than anything else out there and smaller than a regular flashlight.

I have a dozen or two, cheap to medium priced. The ones with a square light emitter LED are all better than the ones with one or more "bulb" LED's.

I have a couple of Nitecore MT10C lights, uses 1 CR123 battery, and way more powerful than even the largest maglight. Better still it can be turned down to just a glow and the battery lasts for a very long time. With 5 steps in brightness I can usually find a setting that works.

Stream light. A Knucklehead and a Waypoint model. neither is small or tiny, but they probably have them.

The cheapo small lights never last for me. I do have an old mag light somewhere.

I've never had much luck with the cheap lights. The Nebo brand isn't even very cheap and I've not had good luck with them. They used to have a lifetime warranty, but it was recently reduced to one year.

I also have a LED flashlight that takes 2 CR123 batteries made by Surefire. It has two brightness settings, the strongest is about like a single headlight on a car. Not cheap, maybe $60 and you pretty much have to get the batteries on line or they are expensive. On the dimmer setting the batteries are good for something like 40 hours and on the brighter 10 hours.

I have a Kobalt rechargeable knuckle head light that I keep plugged in to a wall socket in the house and it is super bright and the beam is focus adjustable from wide angle to spot and it will light up my neighbors porch over 100 yards away. My home defense pistol has a compo lazer sight and light that cast the brightest light I have seen from a CR123 battery. It really lights up the area even outside. For my shop, I have a rechargeable LED light for use under a car or when I need broad coverage and then my Craftsman LED penlight (2 AA batteries) with bright and dim settings. The wife bought me a headlamp that has a dimmable LED light the is also super bright that has a belt loop carrier for the battery pack (2 AA batteries). That pretty much rounds out my light usages. I also have some old bulb type Maglites that don't get much use anymore.

Oh, forgot to mention that Kobalt discontinued the knucklehead flashlight that I have. It also came with a removable snake head and a standard AA battery power supply in case you have to go a long time without electric power. I have no idea why they quit selling them at Lowes because it is a really good light.

I use this: Lumitop

One AAA, waterproof, small and low cost. Great little light for the pocket.

My good flashlight is a StreamLite... About 5inches long; $100+.

But my pocket flashlights are little 3" UltraFire flashlights; CREE LED bulbs; about $6. They use rechargeable 14500ah batteries that are about $3 each. I keep a couple of batteries in their charger.
The UltraFire isn't what I'd want for a very powerful light, but it light, small and bright. I have 4 of them that I keep laying around as well as one in my pocket most of the time. I call them "throw-aways" because they're so cheap, but so far after 2 years none have quit on me.

oh, and BTW, I have a slew of MagLites laying around. They're really dim compared to the UltraFire LED Cree lights, and eat up D-size batteries. They're obsolete these days, and are relegated to the bottom of a cabinet drawer.

i personally don't think cr123 are worth the cost, i use en-loops and fenix ld series primarily the 22 series, when you use a flashlight for 5 hours a days battery costs add up fast.
