Southern States sells snake repelent pellets. Don't sprinkle it around the outside of house or snake willn't leave, Start with putting it where you found the skin and then start spreading out the diameter.

SNAKE AIN'T LEAVING >>>

He's right were he want's to be !!!

Bait him, take a snipers perch & take him out >>>>

Snakes hate mothballs !!!!

Catch a few garden snakes, release them, they eat other snakes and then take them back out and release .

Spray pure ammonia around the room where you think he's at, he'll come out and then take care of him >

Or, you can do what we do down here in the south , just " hand grab 'em " , but gotta be quick & don't hesitate at all !!!!

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU !!!

My wife has always told me that if she finds a snake in the house, don't bother trying to catch it, cause she ain't coming back in. Only way would be to have the whole house tented (like for termites) and then it would a small chance.
My Mother opened the top drawer of her chester drawers when I was a kid and a Moccasin was in it. Daddy made a mess out of a bunch of her clothes with the shotgun...

Place a pair of snakeskin boots in the middle of the room where you found the skin with a note that reads "This is what happened to the last snake that I caught in here". Problem solved.:D Neighbor of mine had a similar problem, he found the skin in his bathroom (was a mobile home), and the washer and dryer were also in there. My guess was that it holed up under the dryer for the winter, he found the skin in the spring. He didn't like the idea of possibly sharing the bathroom with a snake all winter. The snake turned up a couple days later in the living room. He had one of them big white parrots like Barreta had. The bird started acting all crazy. He called me to come get the snake out, said his bird found it. I told him no, I think the snake found the bird. It wasn't poisonus, but he was glad to be rid of it.

I hear ya. Podunkadunk said the same thing. Guess what, my wife is the same way. She is getting test at the doctors today so I haven't mentioned the snake skin yet. She got other things to worry about till later this afternoon. I don't know how she will take it, but I'll find out this evening or tomorrow when I tell her. She may be boarding with my daughter till I find this thing.

I am first going to remove all boxes from the place where I found skin. I think he might be isolated to one storage room and the garage. Funny how when looking around for holes this critter might crawl in there are many you never noticed before. Next I think I'm going to try the bait thing and the bird mesh to tangle the thing up. Also, I like the fish hook thing and the heat lamp thing, but it's going to be in the 80s here today. Snake don't need heat today. If I were going to be home I would leave the garage door open. My thought is snake might sense the warm air and go out.

As for now I am taking wife to doctor and I'll work on this tonight. I will keep everyone posted as I would guess this has happened to a few more folks than those who have posted.

cheers...Coffeeman

Snake update

1. So far I called fish & game to try and find out if someone can identify snake skin. I was told by regular game warden that fish & game is in charge of snakes. I have heard that it's hard to identify a skin. However, the commission might be able to send thing to a biology lab and test the thing to rule out poision snake; especially since it would be a health hazzard if in home. No call back yet.

2. I got some Snake Stopper at TSC. The bottle of powder says it's great stuff. Snakes fear the smell and take off fast. I guess the bottle label wouldn't lie. It contains clove, cedar and cinnamon. Smells pretty good to me. Safe for people and animals. I sprinkled it around living area that I believe the snake has no way to get to. I did this just in case.

3. I put some glue traps around. The purpose is to see if the critter is still moving around in garage. Maybe he left. I also was thinking I might spread some flour around all over floor. If a couple days go by and no flour disturbed I might consider that a reasonalbe sign critter has gone.

4. Tomorrow I will remove stored boxes from room where skin was found. I have one incomming water line that might have been an entrance way. But, it's under ground by 4 foot and covered by concrete walk. Also there is one small hole toward rest of house that has an air conditioning run. I'll be patching everything I can find.

5. This weekend I'm going to try the pet mouse thing with a hook on him.

By the way; my wife took this way better than I thought she would. She has informed me it may be a while, though, till she washes clothes as the washer is in utility room next to garage. She is, as I type, in the bedroom on the other side of the house from the garage. She does have a rug stuffed under the bottom of the door to seal it from anything that crawls. It makes sense to me. Heck, I've been peering around chairs and opening doors slow till I can look through first.

So that was my evening in snakeland.....

Cheers...Coffeeman

You could always get a mouse, put it in a cage. Go purchase you a
Cuddeback wildlife camera and set it up in front of the cage. When the
snake goes to the mouse. The movement of the snake will ativate the camera and you will know for sure. Another thing, if you know how a crawfish trap is set up, you can put the mouse in that, put the entrance loop toward the top. Trust me, the snake will find a way to get to the mouse, when he gets the mouse, he will stay in the trap. Then take the trap outside & dispose of the snake. .... The smaller the mouse, the better your chances are.
What you are wanting to do , is have a entrance to the mouse, but also set up where the mouse cannot get out. The snake will get into that cage, get that mouse and usally snakes lay around where they have eaten. Check up on the trap about every three to four hours. But don't disturb it !!!!

Yeah, we ended up tearing our house down and starting over. :)

The last snakeskin I recovered from my old house was over six feet long. I actually had that snake cornered at one point, but my FIL chickened out when he saw it.

Good luck.

It's easy to catch him. Just wait until it gets cold out. He'll crawl into bed with you. When you feel something cold crawling across your feet, just reach down and grab him.:D :D
