Snake in house - how do I find it to get rid of it?

Since you found the snake skin down by the water pipes I'll assume it's a water snake. That makes it simplier. Check you toilet water tanks. Be carefull sitting on the john. Nothing like a snake colonoscopy!! Cheers!!
P.S. Be extra carefull on full moons.....they mate on full moons...just imagine thiere view from down in the john and you above them!!! Put a new meaning to the words Wet Willy!!

It's easy to catch him. Just wait until it gets cold out. He'll crawl into bed with you. When you feel something cold crawling across your feet, just reach down and grab him.

Now I don't feel so bad about having cats in the house.. especially since a couple of the rascals sleep with us. While it is sometimes an inconvienience waking up with 2-3 8-12 # cats sleeping on your chest.. I imagine our bed is more or less 'snake-proof'.

Right on the money. Very interesting and funny if reading about the other guy. My first post did mention don't post horror stories and scare me. But, you know there are 50,000 comedians out of work and we don't need any new ones. Give me a couple weeks to get over this thing and I can joke with the best of you out there. I'll help put them comedians out of work.

I did talk to state fish & stream person today and asked about trying to identify the skin. Hard to do. Gave me a name of biology professor at a university that could probably identify. Over all the fish commission guy was bored with my questions. He said our region has 2 poisonous snakes and it's rare to find them in houses. " Don't worry about it.", he told me. In my case it's "rare" to get a bad snake and it's "rare" to hit the lottery. I can guess which "rare" I might hit.

Hopefully the cats sleeping with you are older, more mature cats, as the younger ones tend to be too playful and energetic, and might take a interest in anything swinging.
What precautions have you taken to get rid of the snake? Has the wife forgotten it yet? (wishful thinking)

PS Hopefully things are improving at your homestead !

BTW, a few years back I had a black snake in the basement, may have brought it in with my firewood. Fortunately it was only about 18" and I felt it wouldnt make it up the cellar stairs ! I refrained from telling this story to my wife, because she would vacate the house and not return ! You know the drill, come home at night and no supper, that didnt sound too good, I think I made the right decision !

I got a mix of older and younger cats.. I don't like the younger ones in cuz they tend to sleep less and stay up more... nothing like a cat walking across you or hopping up on you at 2am...

Speaking of being carefull about 'sudden' movements.. here's a funny one. lets see if i can keep it 'G'.

I got a friend that owns a jack russle. he lives on a farm.. no neighbors.. etc. So he lets his dog out one morning, and then walks outside a few minutes later to callfor him to come back in.. dog shot out from around the corner and made a flying leap for my buddies.. uh... little buddy

My friend apparently 'swung to the side' in the nick of time.. said it was the last time he was going clothing optional to retrieve the dog from the porch...

I don't blame him...
