When a neighbor won't wave back, I take that as a personal challenge..

I could give a red rats ***** if they wave or not.Why do folks feel the need to be acknowledged?

Now see coobie, you just explained why us Southerners have a hard time with yankees. In the south, it's a deeply ingrained acknowledgement that you are a human who deserves to be acknowledged. And, it seems to me waving to acknowledge people is more of a south/north thing than country/city attitude, but country people all over are friendlier.

Listen you northerners, if you come south to live, please return or even initiate a wave! And be respectful. Don't be a dam n yankee.

I have no axe to grind with UPS.
That said: FedEx is always my first choice for shipping.
Great service/ great people!

My Father has delivered mail on a rural route for almost 55 years. The other day one of his customers posted a picture on facebook of packages she said HE left on the ground. As it turns out it was FedEx that left the packages on the ground near the mail box. He was not amused to say the least. He takes a lot of pride in his work and treats his customers like family. All the kids on his route get free candy on holidays.

I hope he pays their Dental Bills too! lol

A few weeks ago, I noticed the UPS driver had his rear cargo area locked. I have never seen that before and asked about it. He said it's always been that way. Yeah, maybe in the SOPs. Another sign of the times, I guess.

I am from the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. I bought a small place in the country about 4 years ago. I definitely get in to "wave" mode as I get off the interstate and get on to the county roads. One could definitely show a inverse relationship between the distance from the interstate and frequency of waves from drivers going by.

I always reciprocate. I went around and introduced myself to all the neighbors I shared a fence with. One of them pulled me out of my field when I gut stuck, this was before I acquired a tractor of my own. Seems pretty simple

We have had great rural route carriers here for many years. They allow us to place our mailbox down our driveway off of the county road to prevent vandalism, I haven't had to replace my mailbox for nearly twenty years now. The only issue we have had was when our old carrier retired the new one drives a postal van, our box was too low, not a problem to add a foot or so of pipe to the post.
Did have a small problem with the old carrier, she loved dogs and carried treats for them. At that time we had a golden retriever who tended to get a bit heavy, we had to ration her food to control her weight. She kept getting fatter despite our efforts, I couldn't figure it out until I was home one day when Dianne the mail lady came. As soon as the dog heard her coming she ran out to greet her, stood up on her back legs to get her head rubbed in the car window and receive a couple of treats, more treats were then tossed a few feet away so she wouldn't be near the car as it left, then as she drove off a couple more for good measure!:licking:
When we asked Dianne the mail lady to please cut back a bit she said "but she's so cute and sweet".
We are still good friends with Dianne and she is one of our neighbors living about a quarter of a mile down the road from us.
