I have a brand new kobota L3400 36hp tractor and purchased a very lightly used George White 74" rear mount blower. The problem that I'm having is that the chute is constantly getting cloged up with snow. Just wondering if anyone has an ideas as to why.

Do you have the throttle pulled down as far it will go??????

It also depends on the snow at times. If the weather gets mild it will melt the top few inches of snow a little. It will create wet snow on the top of cold powdery snow. That is about the only thing that renders my snowblower useless. The two kind of snow get mixed up and stick/freeze to the blower auger. I never had the chute clogged up.

If you are not operating at 540 rpm for the rear pto you will always have problems.

If you are traveling too fast in reverse with a throttle setting that is not providing 540 rpm you will have trouble.

Using some wd 40 or fluid film to coat the spout will help throw the snow further.

If you buy a clarence impeller kit it will improve the throwing ability of the snow blower fan.

I have a link for the impeller kit on the forum here and clarence has a web page.

google clarence small engines. :)

Welcome to the Forum.
Where are you located? And what type of snow (dry, wet) are you blowing (or trying to blow)?

Coat it with Fluid Flim.

I've also heard the kitchen spray called PAM also helps, just don't let your better half see you taking the spray can. :D

I use Pam, Wd-40, and/or silicone spray. But sometimes, it just depends on the snow. When it's really wet and sticky, keeping the PTO speed high is also important. I removed the basket thingy on the front of the chute to clear clogs when they do happen. Stop the blower and turn off the tractor before attempting to clear a clog.

Wayne, how'd you do down there this weekend? We got ripped off....2" thursday and just 4" Friday night. :(

I think we got about 8 inches total, but it was really light and most of it blow away. I did blow out the driveway and the back area where we have our firewood logs stacked.

Nice to see other areas getting it and not us LOL

Only with the sloppiest of snow have I had any clogging. With my old, slightly underpowered maching I would could have some clogging, if I overloaded it and it bogged a bit, it clogged once or twice. I have not had a probelm with my new machine. Is there something in the pathway? You need to clean the chute out completely after each use.

I have never had a reason to coat the inside of the blower with something, nor would I ever consider doing that. In my opinion that would probably make the clogging problem worse with something to freeze, or have something for the snow stick to. I have never heard that recommendation until I started reading this forum, nor have I ever known anyone to do that up here. The cold, smooth steel provides very little friction.

For you guys up east, here in the central UP of Michigan it has snowed continuously since 12/31. I had to blow 12" on 1/1 about 12" on 1/3 and at least 12" today (1/4) and it expected to snow contiuously all week. It is part of that puny storm you are having. As the outer bands of your cyclonic low pressure swing south across Lake Superior, it snows here.

Back in the day when we blew snow we'd wax the inside of the chute and it made a difference.

With wet snow most of us are stuck with high rmp's and slow ground speed you with 35hp should be better off ground speed wise.
