I covered the cutting edge of my blower with a piece of pipe, did the same with the plow. The blower does not dig in and the gravel stays put. The pipe leaves a nice quarter inch of snow on top of the stone.

I use the pipe on or behind and lower than the cutting edge. It works good until the road is frozen solid then I take it off.
Another trick I have used is to take kids sliding saucers and put one below each skid shoe and bungeed in place - it acts like a snowshoe.
I find HST tractors much more difficult to back up with since your right foot is controlling the speed. To many years of looking over my right shoulder farming with the left foot on the clutch makes looking over my left shoulder even more difficult. I.e. darned hard to teach this old dog a new trick![]()
