snow bucket Size

I own a TC 40 DA and i picked up an old farmhand snow bucket. It is light duty a lot lighter than the snow buckets they put on the skid steers. The question i have is that it is an 8 foooter. I can cut it down to a seven footer with alot of extra work. It looks massive at 8 foot, i need 6 foot to cover the wheel tracks. Any advise would be nice. My driveway isnt huge, ive been using the dirt bucket but this bucket fell into my hands dirt cheap so i thought a fun and useful project.
I am wondering what others are using on this size of tractor.

If your tractor will push the 8 footer I would stay with it. Snow isn't that heavy and bigger is better. What would take me two passes with my 60" bucket you could almost do in one. What's wrong with that?

If that tractor can't handle the 8'er it's time for a new tractor It should be fine, if nothing else try it before you fry it, in others words leave it be, if it works then your out nothing.

ya if you got the room to move around with out hitting anything.. thats the one i would use .. just remember push the snow back far . it wont take long and you will have a pile you cant move ..been there done that lol

A TC 40 should push an eight foot bucket through snow, and you should be able to lift and dump too --- unless you get a heavy super wet snow --- then you may find it won't lift that amount of weight, or you have rear ballast problems, or both :laughing: Of course, the solution is don't put more in the bucket than the FEL can lift, so I don't see that as a reason to start cutting down the bucket width. 8' width compared to the normal 6' on a TC 40 is a great advantage for snow removal.
