Recently, I aquired several rolls of snow fencing, when it got thrown in with some lumber I bought at an auction. A few weeks ago, I wanted to expand some of my goat pasture, and I decided to use the snow fencing, at least temporarily, since I had it laying around. It worked great, it was easy to put up, and the goats can't pull it down like they do with some fencing. I'd like to use it to expand more of my pasture, but never having used it before, I wonder how long it would last, since it has wood slats. Does anyone have any experience with snow fencing, and how long it lasts?

Thanks!

I've never seen snow fence rot. Typically it gets busted up by rough handling.

It is pretty tough, but something falling against it can break the slats. We used it for a silo one year as a kid. Did a circle, lined it with black plastic and filled it with chopped corn. Did another circle, lined it and filled it with more chopped corn. I think we went up 4 high. Held up fine through the winter.

Steel fenceposts to hold it upright.
