Snow/Plowing in a New York minute...?

Looks great John, I'm a bit envious as we only got an inch. Not even worth plowing. Isn't it ironic how much time, effort and money we all put into a problem that will be entirely invisible to us in another three or four months /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Beautiful pictures, John. No snow here in southeast Texas but plenty of rain... don't think the ground has dried out in weeks.

My tractor would be jealous of all the work yours is getting... she's sitting in my driveway bored to tears 'cause there's no work for her to do until the grass and weeds start growing again. I start her up once a week and let her run for a few minutes just so she won't feel neglected!

John,

Those retangular lights on the back of your ROPS.. are they reflectors, or actual lights? They look great!!

20 miles north of you. New DK 35/ R4 and 5' Ford blower, no chains,no problem. Flat river bottom

By the way... in my area... if you had turfs or industrial tires mounted with the best of chains... take my word for it... you might as well stay inside... you ain't gonna move much snow...

Ditto....can't fathom how one can cope in all this snow without the R-1 bar tires. I was quite impressed with how the JD 4710 tackled these storms. I have no chains but the tractor in 4 WD quite ably plowed the snow with minimal difficulty. If anyone is thinking of purchasing a tractor and lives in 'snow' country, do seriously consider the R-1 tires. Their attributes in snow and mud will far outweigh any disadvantages you may encounter with the bar tire indents on your lawn.

This is my second full winter of plowing snow with my tractor and it's front mounted blade. 1st year with the backhoe mounted and this winter with just the weight box but my turf tires have performed flawlessly.
Granted that most of my plowing is on flat ground, but I can take a Full blade of snow and push it anywhere I want. The only time my turfs lose traction is when I come up against the snow bank at the end of my run. Now, ice would definatly present a problem, I hope I won't have to find out.
I do find that with the blade angled, I have to take smaller bites.
But I am Extremely pleased with my tire performance without chains etc. My Galaxy turfs are tall and narrow and probably would not be my first choise of a tractor tire concidering what I use a tractor for. But they have yet to let me down.

I have to agree with Mark on this one. I have turfs on my last two tractors and have no problems moving snow, even on my ice rink! Now that I have a snow blower its even easier!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Don't sell the turfs short, they work better in ice than R1's do!....

I know,... I have had both on the same tractor and the turfs are much better on the ice rink!

Wonderful Winter Weather and nice pictures. How about sharing the wealth? We have only had an anemic 3" out here so far.

I agree R1's are the best but R3's and R4's are OK. Of course it does not matter if there is NO SNOW ($%&#*)!

R4 tires and duogrip chains work fine for me. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
