Snow plowing on soft ground

The gravel drive solution is simple. Replace your cutting edge with a heavy piece of angle. I did it on my new 90" Meyer Minute Mount with a 4x4x 3/8". You can grade anything smooth in the Fall and Spring. I also have an old 9' Meyer dirt drive plow from the 30's that works great on my "Monster M37".

I like this idea a lot. Anyone else have experience with mounting heavy duty angle iron to bottom of plow blade? Here in New England we get several times during the winter when the ground thaws out and it's just like starting over with the first plowing of the year. I recently bought a 30 yr. old F-350 4 x 4 dump truck for use only on my property and it came with an 8 ft. Fisher plow. Was contemplating having heavy duty angle iron welded to plow blade for use on my 600 ft. gravel driveway. Any thoughts?

I would not weld it on in case it wears out or needs replaced. Weld tabs on it and bolt it to the plow. Just my thoughts.

I also saw this here and was intrigued.

I had a scrap piece of heavy angle and so I bolted it to my 6' york rake and plowed. (about 2" x 3" 2" down.)

1/4 mile gravel drive & private road that I plow 2 neighbors drives on also.
It works GREAT for not picking up & pushing gravel into the grass.

I have since installed one on the light weight 5' ATV plow I have on the front of the tractor.
It also works GREAT! (Not heavy duty stuff, old bed frame)

I clear a path from the house down to the barn across the grass with NO gouging or anything my wife has yelled at me for for the last 30 years here.

Not as clean a job as what the pick up & plow has done in the past but that is out of service this year.

My advice.... bolt one on & try it.
I think you'll LOVE it but if you don't, take it off.

I used my 3PH blower to clear snow yesterday and it looks like I will be planting new grass next month. I exit the garage through the rear door and coming around to the driveway, it dug in. Mud season came a little early. Oh well, like snow, it happens every year.

where I live in PA we have not had a good frost yet all the yards I plow are torn up. I back push all the snow near lawns and still have it torn up.

Great to hear it! I've got a line on some 4 x 4 x 1/2" angle iron and think I will pick up an 8 ft. piece and bolt on to try it - and based on responses I have seen-hopefully will be very happy. Thanks.

That seems a bit heavy to me.
But I'm not using what was suggested in the original post so.... try it it may work fine.
