Snow plowing on soft ground

The gravel drive solution is simple. Replace your cutting edge with a heavy piece of angle. I did it on my new 90" Meyer Minute Mount with a 4x4x 3/8". You can grade anything smooth in the Fall and Spring. I also have an old 9' Meyer dirt drive plow from the 30's that works great on my "Monster M37".

Have you tried it on a gravel driveway? Also does it leave much snow packed down?

I like using my 6' landscape rake with gage wheels. It seams to clear best with the least damage to the driveway least rock redistribution. The driveway is about 500' of 3/4" crushed rock. Once the backhoe is off the tractor, rake on and set, I can make 3 passes and be going back inside for a fresh cup of coffee.

We get the same wet snow rain and thawing conditions early and late season. My plow does the same digs the gravel up. I ride back and forth with the truck plow UP just packing down a few tire tracks for the plow to ride on. That stops most of the gouging into the gravel. I hate raking up gravel in the spring.

Rear blade with adjustable bush hog gauge wheels. Set the 3pt in float.

I always thought this setup would be the best for removing snow on soft ground. Pull the pin and let it float side to side as well as float up/down on the 3pt, with the gauge wheels keeping the blade out of the gravel. IMG_1446.JPG IMG_1447.JPG

While it is not some sort of commercial grade plow, I have had excellent results with my SnowSport HD snow plow. Very cost effective and has done a great job. Simplicity can sometimes be a good thing. I never worry about taking out the gravel on 900' drive and I can push right on up into the yard around the out buildings and never worry about scalping the grass. To look at it, it may seem "cheesy", but it works very well. I had a local welding shop build me a winch frame for it and use a $60 winch I got off of Amazon to lift and lower the blade. All that is required on my pickup is a Curt 2" front receiver hitch.

Nice job, I had wheels on a snowblower once but they still picked up some stones, not as many. I just rake in the spring.

THANK YOU...:)

I had a piece of 3" angle laying around so I tried this.
Drilled a couple holes in it & a thin strip of bar stock & bolted it all to my York rake.

Doesn't cover the entire width of the rake but seems to work GREAT at not digging up the grass drive down to the barn.
Didn't clear the gravel drive as much as the regular plow on the pick up but also didn't seem to disturb the gravel.

Thank you again.
