Snow Attachments Snow removal over gravel?

I'm trying to purchase 1 impliment, not 2, so if it doesn't work double duty I won't get it

Dusty get yourself a FEL then...most useful attachment you can have on a tractor.

We plow with the FEL on our gravel driveway ...just keep the front of the bucket elevated about half an inch. No problemo!

A loader mounted snow plow is sooo much beter than a rear blade for doing snow, IMO. However, if you want one implement to do both jobs, i think a rear blade would better meat that request. But if it were me, i would by an old used truck plow and convert it to run on the tractor.

I have used the pvc pipe slit on my bucket and blade both over gravel and had good luck.

Hey LQPAPPY, that's a great idea! I'm gonna try that. Do you find one size pvc works better than another? Ever have problems with it comming off or wearing out? I have access to exhaust pipe scrap and I might be able to butt weld a few pieces together to use that instead. And here I was trying to think of a way to mount skid shoes that wouldn't get in the way of grading the driveway in the summer.

The 3" PVC is what I have used and it works well just leveling gravel when there is no snow. It does not seem to wear very bad. I only have a couple of neighbors with gravel drives most are paved so when clearing snow I save the two gravel for last and slip on the PVC pipe. I have leveled a gravel drive a couple of times in the year for another friend and used the PVC at the last few passes. It will wear worse with no snow, but very inexpensive.

Do you all screw that slit PVC pipe on somehow? Or has the clamping power of the pipe's own tension, by itself, worked for you? Had some guys report it works, others say no.

I have a drag for my atv, I like to freeze the first snow fall down with that before I start plowing. Works so much better to leave a little snow on the drive then to clean up the lawn in the spring.

The tension of the pipe will hold without any problems. Most of the time I use a small sledge to tap it off. I have used the pvc for a couple of years and it works great for me. We don't usually have that much snow and only two neighbors have gravel but it has been a great improvement over any other methods.

Thanks LQPAPPY

Someone last summer suggested the PVC, and inspite of a lot of doubter here on TBN, I went ahead and put on my blade. I gotta say, it has a lot of tension on it and I am hoping it stays put as you say yours does.

Snow blower will work fine, set the shoes up a bit, and you are good to go. I

If you can blade the driveway, and get rid of excess rocks before the snow flies, you will be fine.
