Snow wing

I always wanted a wing on my tractor until I bought a couple trucks with wings, so the point became moot.

Nice job, great set-up.

Now I have to think about what affect float on a top or tilt cylinder, that is being excersized a lot while in the float position, might be. Looks like there may be an opportunity to suck air into the cylinder if float returns both sides of a cylinder to tank...

The return line should be submerged below the oil level in the tank to prevent foaming the oil and this would also prevent air from being drawn back into the system. Though it is possible to have a vaccum for short periods of time.

Im glad this post was revisited, because i dont remember it.Steve did a great job.
I wonder if it would be possible to hook something to the front of the front end loader, sticking out 3 or 4 ft at a back angle to wing back with?

I was thinking today about taking some two inch square tubing and bolting it onto the bottom of the bucket through the cutting edge holes. From there I could slide in a piece of 1 1/4 square tubing into. There would be a series of hole through both sized tubing to pin off at varying lengths. On the end of the 1 1/4 inch tubing I would either weld or bolt on some flanges to mount my old four wheeler plow (60"). Since I'm not planning on winging back at the ground level there would be minimal forces on the loader arms. I'm only looking to take the top off the windrows so that my plow truck can roll a new windrow and so on. My question is, attach it to the bucket or the three point hitch? There would be more height option if it was on the bucket...plus tilt. That's it...I talked myself into the front...I'll try it tomorrow.

Iknow youve seen pics of guys bolting 2by 12s to a bucket with pretty good success in light plowing.Iwas sort of thinking ,having a steel peice kind of the same way,but the part that sticks out[plow wing] have it welded on at an
angle mabey with a brace to the back of your bucket. At least on your loader you have control of your wing height.I have reservations about it sliding your front end sideways without chains.Steves was more in the middle of the tractor.

I would like to see some action pics or video of it working. I think for anyone with a long driveway that would be awesome to have.

My tractor is a little smaller, and I don't have a blower on my 3PH. I wonder if it could be tied at two points in the back- down low just in front of the rear tire, and maybe at the base of the ROPS bar. I worry that I'd ruin my 3PH...

Did you make the blade from scratch, or cut down an existing one?

Thanks for the pictures-

Here are all the pictures I have of the wing set up. Any questions I'll try and answer. Some are from the CK20 and some on the CK30. This setup has not damaged anything on either tractor to date. In my eyes, side pressure with this setup cannot be much worse than if you are using a backblade and hook something with either corner of the blade. There are springs on the rear support to take some of the snap out if I do hit anything. I probably put 20 to 40 hours a year on this setup depending on how much snow we get. I use the wing whenever I can as it is much faster than the blower. Blade, less than an hour to do mine and the neighbor's driveway versus the blower at about three hours. Total plowing is about a half mile or so.

Thanks for the post did'nt mean to hijack the other thread. Nice set-up looks like it does a good job, would love to see a frount pic of it. What's the width between the frount blade and wing work out to. Thanks again.

If front blade is angled to that side, it's somewhere around 3 or 4 feet. I don't usually use both front and wing at the same time as they are both on the same hydraulic circuit and it gets a little too much side push if using both at once. I try to get some speed up when pushing or your banks build up quickly because the snow will not roll over fast enough if you know what I mean and I've had it happen a couple of times where to much side load steers you to the ditch pretty quickly as well.

Ever try to work out something for a float? I have a JD model 90 boom flail mower and it used a small pressure tank to allow give in the hydraulics for floating. It has a ball valve at the bottom of the tank you close to eliminate the float when lifting etc.
