( I have been hearing that Cleveland and other areas usually affected by lake effect snow will be hit HARD T-Giving Day. 12" to 36". )
I'm south of Akron and about 35 - 40 miles south of Cleveland - it started coming down Wednesday afternoon pretty good and really got cranked up that evening .... by about 9 PM we probably had 6" and then it really tapered off as the wind direction across Lake Erie changed. I think the snowbelt areas east of Cleveland are still getting hit pretty good - they'll probably wind up with 18" to 24" by the time it's all said and done.

With the ground being relatively warm it melted some and settled ..... not much more than 4" or so out there now, except where the wind blew it into drifts. The high on Monday is supposed to be 60° with rain forecast .... so we'll have soup soon enough.

Since working on the driveway was next to impossible with the snow cover (not to mention the wind chill of near zero) I worked on getting my blower ready yesterday, hooking up the hydraulics for the chute rotation .... still have to modify the hitch so that it with be compatible with the Speeco QuickHitch.

Just wanted to tack on my purchase to the list.

Picked up a 60" Meteor. Seems to be well made and solid. I checked a few other brands of quality but they were running $1800-$2100 in my area. the dealer I bought the tractor at had the Meteor for $1550 so I gave him the sale and I didn't have to drive several hours for the high end units. I think it will be up to the task at hand.

So you'r the one who made it go up to 70* and melt all the snow. I think it was a record high the day I bought mine too.

I'm sure it will work great. Larry

Hey Guys,

Back again. Just trailered my Dad's JD 790 up t my house so I can use it with the new Meteor. It will give me a good idea if 25 pto hp is a nice range for this 68in blower. I'll post a review on it along the way and after the winter is over. Probably tack it on to this topic as well. Hope you guys will keep us posted on how the other brands are working as well. For the guy who posted about widths, I would not want to run a blower that was not as wide as the max tire width. I dont think it would work well at all as you wouldnt have a nice level pathway that the tires are going over.
Bring on the freking snow! I am ready!!!!

I'm afraid that if I go ahead and get the snowblower for my tractor I'll bring on another 5 year drought.

So far so good! If we keep buying snowblowers we won't get any snow! I guess they work pretty good. I thought we had to turn the auger to make them work!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Out here in the west, however, we need snow. For skiing this winter and for drinking next summer.

So, how have you liked that Meteor snowblower? My dealer still has the same one he had a couple months ago. It's still probably a little small for my needs (narrower than my tire width) but I'm thinking about it nevertheless.

I've tried plowing the road and it's just too time consuming given the length of my road (nearly a mile long). It takes in the neighborhood of 5 hours to get the thing cleared from a deep snow. Part of the trouble is there's now place for the snow to go really. There's a steep hillside on one side of the road and a fence on the other. When we get a good 12" snowstorm, that becomes a lot of snow to push through the fence.

The real decision becomes whether it's worth spending $2500 to get an 84" blower, or if I should settle for the 67" for $1400.

If you have the HP, I'd save for the bigger blower. Is there only on dealer that carries blowers around you? You'll always question yourself if you should have got the bigger blower. Not to mention it might reduce your trips up and down the drive from 2 round trips to 1.
And don't forget, a good time to check the want-ads is coming in the spring.

I think you're right about that. I was thinking about it this afternoon when I was up there. Two passes with the 7 footer would cover the drive. It would take three with a five footer.
