My neighbor, a John Deere 5103 owner, was kidding me about my Kubota and needing to "buy USA". I had already looked up his John Deere right after he bought it and determined the whole tractor is made in India. I was waiting for the opportunity, and he gave it to me. He would not believe it until he looked it up himself. We haven't had that conversation any more. Many JD owners still think their tractors are all made in Moline IL and don't want to hear any different. ...From the John Deere site...
Country of Manufacture Pune, India

Wear a hat with "John Deere...Made in India" to the next gathering and see what happens.

I agree - I WANTED to buy a JD. Went to the local dealer and discovered the 30 HP models (around there) have I think Yanmar or something engines in them. I figured why buy a USA brand from another country. I knew too many people who loved their "Bota's" to not buy one. Plus I believe 'Bota makes the engines.

Still if I there was a true made in USA product I would be partial to that with all other things being reasonably equal!

one of my neighbors has a new kubota and it came with a hat. I think it is cool that people wear hats with the brand of their rides on them. I would have a hat for my tractor but i have yet to find a camo yanmar hat available. Or even better, a camo TBN one. :D:thumbsup::cool: They are just jealous of your sweet ride.

I really like my Kubota and looked at others but in the end bought what I thought was the best for the money. Now would I only buy USA made? NO of course not. In today痴 world the US economy is what drives the world, we buy and sell all types of goods. If we only bought US goods the US wouldn稚 be wear it痴 at now. Let痴 talk shotguns for example- some of the finest over/under and side by sides are Italy made- hands down. Heck the US Marines carry Benelli M4 shotgun. SO I believe one has to look at all options on tractors, heck my Dad still hates my new orange ride:mad:

Myself , like a lot of people buy what we can afford, no matter what brand it is. We will buy it if we think it will get the job done. I bought my little Kubota because, I got it for a great price, if it had been a JD, or what ever, I would have still bought it. It has done more than I thought it would do. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn"t hesitate. After having bought it tho I am very well pleased with it, considering it is a 1985 model and has performed well, I wouldn"t hesitate to recommend the name brand to anyone. zman

I never even considered the possibility of buying American Made. I don't think that exists anymore these days. Even the products made in the USA are assembled in Mexico, or only count as US made by a technicality of having a sufficient percentage of parts made or labeled in the USA.

We don't make anything anymore, even the stuff we "make" is done overseas or by imported labor. The whole "Buy American" concept is a joke in this economy. It would be nice to be able to support our local producers. Anybody know a reliable way to identify them or what they actually make? :(

I bought my Kubota because of it's reputation and price. I don't wear my cap much cause I look silly in caps. I prefer a nice straw with a broad brim. Plus, orange is not all that great with my freckled complexion. Blue sets of my eyes better.

I wear a Deere hat while driving my Kubota. I used to be a Deere fan(before buying two Kubotas) Now I just have a hat that I got new at a garage sale for a buck. My Kubota hat is for sunday go meeting.

I often wear a Kubota hat, more as hat than a statement, but sometimes both. I really, really like my 'Bota. It's incredibly well thought out and assembled.

Anyhow, I also wear a Kubota hat to quite formal affairs, just to make a statement that I am "country", not city, eccentric perhaps, but sometimes in keeping with my persona. At such an affair in TX last year, one of my Tennessee friends was making a speech, while I sat my turn on the dais.

Poking fun at me, he said that he hoped one day I could get a "real" tractor. The room of colleagues had a good laugh, which is great stuff at such meetings.

When I took the lectern, I poked back saying I guess I'd get a "real" tractor when he got a "real" motorcycle. (since everyone knew he rides a big Yamaha) there was another good laugh all around.

Good natured. Men being men. No harm, no foul.

.... Sounds to me like when you guys are so busy waving the Made In America flag, you may have missed some of the foreign content.

Eh? No Kubota owner that has been here a while has done that.

Read the whole string, or go hang in the orange sections for a while. We have not missed anything.

This OP was talking about hat snubbing, some newbies introduced the made in america noise, which was in humor IMHO.
