So called "tool box"

I agree that the tool box is small, the one on my L4400 is small. I put only a few essentials tools in it: wrenches, rachet and a couple of sockets and fuses. I also put my 45 in there also. My two fire extinguishers are on each side of my ROPS.:tractor:

The oem tool box on my 4700 makes more noise than the engine

The factory toolboxes are definitely not much...

They would hold an average supply of toilet paper, though, just in case one is bush hogging the back forty and can't make it back to the house...

Here are some pics of my "tool box". Also good for adding some extra weight to the back of the tractor, as well as towing stuff.

That's what I do too. Except my wife says I shouldn't because it increases fuel consumption.

. I took a picture of the worthless OEM toolbox and my new TSC replacement. It really worked perfectly on my MX5100. The kit included several types of mounting brackets and thumbscrews to secure the box to the brackets. There is an indented area for the thumbscrews. The kit is well thought out and easy to install. I still have full view of the 3 point hitch and attachments and plenty of seat room with the seat moved rearward. For my applications this is a winner and reasonably priced.

That really looks nice, I put the 16 inch HD plastic tool box on the left fender top where the turnsignal and brake light used to be. It is very handy for the keeper pins and tools.

Here is what I did with a Lowe's tool box on my MX5100 HST. I removed one of the existing mounts for the old tool box. Moved the worklight over on its mount by drilling a new hole in it's existing bracket. Then I made two brackets out of angle iron for the new tool box. I mounted one bracket using the existing attachment for the rear hydraulic ports after getting longer screws. I got longer screws for the SMV sign mounting bracket and used those screws to mount the other bracket. All screws go through a plate in bottom of tool box, then through the tool box, then through the bracket and into the cross bar. So no new holes in cross bar were required. The bracket that is attached where the SMV mount was is longer and extends back beyond the tool box to provide a place to remount the SMV bracket. It is just long enough that it allows the tool box lid to open without hitting the sign but not so long as to block the access of using the top link storage hook. Only compromise I had to make was to slant the tool box slightly so the PTO lever would operate. I could not slide the whole tool box over because of the rear work light bracket but I didn't need much and it only extends on the far side about 1/2" past the cross bar. So now I have room for toilet paper and something to read :) and lots of tools. I also discovered two holes on the left fender behind the cruise control that will allow me to mount the old tool box there and the lid will still work because of the way it is made. Haven't mounted that yet but I plan to. That will make pins and clips more readily accessible from the ground and won't have to plow through big tool box looking for small stuff I could keep in original tool box. With this big of a tool box the seat will touch the box if it is way back but I don't use the seat that far back so it works for me.

Just ask her to help you with a tree stump. You man the chain and ask her to use the FEL to lift/pull it out very slowly. As soon as that rear end comes up, she'll forget all about the fuel consumption.
