I'm getting a little tired of this argument. It's one of the last things some brands are trying to grasp to and justify spending thousands more on a tractor that may be much less capable. As a percentage of what you paid, you'll do as well with Mahindra or any of the other non Kubota/JD brands, maybe better given how over priced some models seem to be.

Can be tired of it all you want, but at the moment resale value and ability to resell is owned by the major brands. As other brands become more established, have larger dealer networks then that will probably change. Obviously resale has to be a % of value and not a dollar amount to be a fair comparison. As I said you probably shouldn't base a decision on this, however if all else is equal its a good factor to consider. Resale is a measure of brand awareness and perceived quality in the market, as has been mentioned there's a lot of brands coming up with good products and if they prove reliable over a long period I would expect the gap to close quickly.

If there is any way possible put a box blade on the Kubota and on the Mahindra, and raise the 3pt hitch S-L-O-W-L-Y. like you were making a small height adjustment in the Up direction And see which one you like the best. They are all smooth going down, it is the slowly going up by moving the position control lever slowly that tells the tale.. Some are better than others. see if it would bother you any.

The slow raising is a good point as I would like to be able to make fine adjustments. I mentioned the jerky 3 pt of the L's to my dealer... he said he did not hear of that as a problem.... although it's mentioned all over this site...

Yep not a Kubota Dealer on the face of the earth has ever heard of that problem. Again some are much worse than others.

I contend today's compact tractor buyer is not the John Deere, Kubota, brand loyal customer of decades past. Before the www, and websites like TBN; the quest for information about buying, owning, and operating tractors was a much different game. I don't care how much you love your favorite color - we live in an age where we have access to real time input of operator's experiences, and manufacturer's specifications. I think we are more easily finding some colors are overpriced, and overrated. As it was in the auto industry, it has become in the tractor world - brand loyalty is as shifting as the sands.

I just saw a newer 20HP Farmtrac sell at a local online auction today for $2000. Did the value drop? Yes. But I think we can agree that a company like Mahindra and Kioti are in much different situations than Farmtrac. Of us on TBN Mahindra and Kioti are the off brands to some of us, but they are really not that anymore. You will have no problems getting parts for either of these brands. As Dave mentioned, Mahindra is the largest tractor maker in the world, I wouldn't see how they pull out of the US anytime soon. If I remember correctly, Mahindra, not Kubota, won some Japanese tractor award. Go with what you like and don't get caught up in brand.

X2 You buy it to use it, not sell it

I for one am personally glad that there are so many good brands to choose from these days. I think the competition will make all brands better and drive better prices and features for us tractor users.
