I made certain there were no wire runs in the ceiling between these two side windows to interfere with a chimney pipe. I figure the best place for a small woodstove would be right there. I will be putting in base cabinets and countertop to either side of the sink, to allow the rolling fridge to slip under. Wall cabinets and shelving above for the microwave and coffeemaker of course. The patient one, who's sport car is already infringing upon my work space, had the audacity to raise an eyebrow and inquire where the couch was going. Hmm...

lol, then you might like this idea... For the last 20 years or so, I've collected beer tap handles. Not seriously, just for fun really, but I must have 50-60 of 'em collecting dust. Might frame out a lighted display soffit along the top of the wall someday when I got nothing better to do. That and a few more bar mirrors should set the ambiance about right. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Is that a Little Giant ladder? I was thinking of getting one of those until I saw the price /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yes it is, a Father's Day gift this year from the young ones and the one who doesn't add a paycheck. Does that make it a gift to myself? To her credit, she got it on sale from a local store for $100 cheaper than the infomercial price with no shipping. After using it for a while, I will say I love the flexibility of positions when needed, but the darn thing is heavy for everday use. It is built heavy duty and, IIRC, is rated at 350lbs vs. 225lbs for the similar Werner at HD.
Maybe they're trying to tell me something?! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Eddie - I got it all insulated and was ready to order drywall when I got sidetracked. 1st, Wilma took a punch on my Mom's place in FL.

Then, just as we were seeing the light at the end of that tunnel, my daughter had a bad accident. Lost control on ice, went off the road in my truck and hit a tree. Took a while to get her back on her feet and now we're in the middle of travel and H.S. hockey season ferrying boys around 3 states, so not a whole lot of free time lately.

dholly,

I'm realy sorry for what's happened and I hope your daughter is doing better. The truck looks pretty bad. Every parents worse nightmare.

Thanks for the update, I'd been wondering about your barn and how it was coming along but hadn't heard anything is awhile.

Take care,
Eddie

Thanks for those kind words Eddie. My daughter suffered serious head injuries but we are truely blessed and she is well on her way to making a full recovery. The truck was not so fortunate - totaled. Man, I can't wait for my boys to start driving this year too. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Like many with coastal property, insurance has become so darn expensive or the terms so prohibitive you almost have to self-insure to a certain degree. Been a pretty good strategy up to now and a lot of the damage will be covered by the condo assoc. policy but, still, it was a big hit to the wallet. So it's been a real tough couple of months emotionally and physically for the family but our loved ones are ok and the only lasting damage is material. Hope to get back to my garage project soon, until then I'll keep a close eye on your progress. Looks great!
