Don't everyone laugh at once but I was asked to weld some fence for a guy. At the time all I had was my portable wire feed welder available and big generator. As it turned out me using the flux core wire in it was fast and easier then stick. 10 lb of .035 Lincoln wire goes a long way. Am I wrong in considering this to use from now on?

I think you would be surprised what is welded in heavy civil, and marine construction with self shielded wire.

I have been in and around the industry for over 30 years. Always had a wirefeed on a swingarm in the shop. I may just put one on a quick detach on my truck so if this type of work comes up again I can throw my wirefeeder in the cradle swing it out board and go to town. The guy was actually surprised on how fast I got the job done LOL

Im impressed with this big 40. Im handling arc blow much better with it. Its running better each time i fire it up.

My hobart 180 has 035 flux core wire. I run it on jobsites aswell as in my shop. Its a very good fence ootiin especially if you have a rig driver jumping you post to post down the fence line
